Last week I was photographing at The International Wine and Food Society Young Chef Competition 2024 at Warrington & Vale Royal College. The brief was to create a main course, using a gluten free black pudding as one of the ingredients and focus on being free from key allergens in the form of gluten, dairy, or nuts. The Judges were:

The Brief: Having worked with the restaurant on their photography since the very early days. As the restaurant grew and proved more popular, we were commissioned to produce their website and also manage their social media. Copywriting and photography was also included in our services.

Our Solution: Sea fennel which is the imagery within sō-lō’s logo was photographed for the home page. The site is rich in imagery to get across the visual aspect of the business:

A cheeky little espresso to kick start your day, or would you prefer a long latte? After receiving a fabulous De'Longhi bean to cup machine as a present, I have finally said goodbye to all the unnecessary recycling of coffee pods! Plus the coffee is another level, it's sumptuous. My mornings are now officially fuelled by very amazing coffee 😍.

Sō-lō in Aughton, West Lancashire, is Chef Tim Allen's first solo venture. Within eighteen months of opening his restaurant's doors, it had received its first Michelin Star (Tim's fourth). I have been working with Tim for a while now, documenting sō-lō and its incredible food. Photographing his fabulous plates of food is such a joy, for the colours, textures, form and of course the taste.

The Grand Opening of The new Windmill Lodge and its Nolan Day Care Centre. Based in Lytham, this was officially opened by a town crier and the lovely Nolan sisters: coleen_nolan, missdenisenolan, annenolanofficial and thelindanolan

First Prize went to Sabah Shah from Leeds City College, for her absolutely stunning dish of Beetroot and Goat’s Cheese Macarons in THE INTERNATIONAL WINE AND FOOD SOCIETY VEGETARIAN CHEF COMPETITION https://iwfsvegetarianchef.com held at , Head Judge was Paul Heathcote MBE along with cookery school. I came away with Highly Commended in this years Pink Lady@foodphotoaward in the Marks & Spencer Food Portraiture category. Considering the depth of the talent who claimed awards, I am both honoured and delighted.

TODAY IS AN AMAZING DAY…

I'm so proud to announce that I am now a Finalist in the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2023 in the 'Marks & Spencer Food Portraiture' category.

I'm still in shock, but am both humbled and delighted that my work has been considered worthy of consideration in such a prestigious competition.

Interior photography for ANSELL LIGHTING in Warrington. The shoot was for an image gallery/record of their recent lighting installation in a stunning Merseyside new build.

I had a great day recently on a photo-shoot at one of Kingsley Healthcare’s homes in . A very impressive with such attentive and caring staff. The interiors were stunning, but the food was even more impressive. Congratulations to all the staff and of course .

Working as a self-employed photographer can be tough, but it can also be extremely fulfilling when your work is acknowledged by companies that you really respect. I can’t tell you how delighted I am seeing my work for the amazing Sōlō Restaurant in this Waitrose & Partners publication.❤️Today's definitely a good day😁

You were everything a queen should be and so much more. We will miss you, but we will also celebrate you and your life of service. We were so lucky to have had you at the helm for 70 years. RIP your majesty, now you are with your beloved Philip.
