Our Tipple Trolley is celebrating it's 1 year anniversary of being on our ward!
It has been an amazing year since our Tipple Trolley officially launched on the ward, with our volunteers from Patient and Family Services bringing a small piece of joy to our patients' day.
With the great success of our Tipple Trolley and all thanks to the generosity of our supporters who have donated drinks for it, our patients are loving it.
Thank you to everyone for all the support over the past yearπ

At Woodlands Hospice, we have the privilege of meeting and befriending many patients, their families and friends. Each person providing their own special contribution to that family-like spirit that makes up the Hospice.
Sadly, many of the patients we met have passed away.
This year we held 5 Celebration of Life Services this year to provide an opportunity for their families to came together, to celebrate and to give thanks for their lives.
Each service was well attended. And many positive comments were received as to how much the service provided peace and comfort. And to know that attendees are still part of the Woodlands family.
Staff, volunteers and the Melling Community Gospel Choir gave their time freely and enthusiastically to ensure the services took place.
Thank you to Edie Pope at Church View Farm, Ian Hurst and Norwegian Wood Florists who very kindly sourced beautiful white roses for each service for our act of tribute.

My name is Gwen and I am a volunteer at Woodlands Hospice.
I have been a volunteer for 12 years. Before being at Woodlands I was a nurse. I volunteer 3 days a week. Monday and Wednesday I help in the Patient and Family Services and Friday I help out on the ward giving out tea and coffee to the patients and visitors. Patient and Family Services also have a Tipple Trolley and this is on offer for the patients on the ward to have a little tipple with their lunch.
We get a lot of feedback from the patients, they tell us that they are well looked after and cared for by all the staff and volunteers and this makes it all worthwhile. It is just like one big family and not only are the patients looked after, so are the volunteers.

By dedicating a light to your loved ones, you will not only be celebrating their life, but you will also be helping us to support our patients and their families at a time they need it most.
Reminder that if you are still yet to make your dedication, you only have until Monday 20th November 2023 for your dedication to be guaranteed to appear in the Book of Life for viewing at the Light up a Life Service on Sunday 3rd December.

Men's Health Month
Men will die on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for reasons that are largely preventable. Which means that it doesnβt have to be that way: we can all take action to live healthier, happier and longer lives.

My name is Denise. I started volunteering at Woodlands Hospice in December 2022 with the Patient and Family Services Team.
Speaking to both the patients and their families and spending quality time with them is very rewarding. I also do the Tipple Trolley on the ward and love it when a patient asks for a particular drink and the smile on their face when we have it.
Volunteering at Woodlands Hospice is one of the best decisions I have made and that is down to the amazing people in Woodlands from the CEO, Staff and Volunteers but most importantly the patients and families.

My name is Doreen. Before volunteering I was an auxiliary for many years at Woodlands Hospice and I just loved my job.
When I retired I decided to become a volunteer as a felt I wanted to carry on being involved with the patients and their families. I was delighted to join and work with Patient and Family Services and I get to spend time with patients and families, talking to them and spending time with them. 6 years later and I still love volunteering and hope to continue for many years. As part of the role we also take the Tipple Trolley on to the ward for the patients.
As a volunteer we are very well looked after and supported by the team at Woodlands Hospice. It is the best thing I have done. I just love it!
