Today, I opened University of Birmingham Dubai’s new campus, which offers 46 academic programmes. The institution is one of the world’s top 100 universities, which makes it one of the highest ranked universities in Dubai and the region. 10 of its researchers have received the Nobel prize .Home to more than 46 private universities, Dubai has emerged as a leading global destination for higher education, attracting thousands of international students. Many more prominent universities are set to join Dubai International Academic City in the near future.

I attended a reception at Burj Park today to welcome guests from all over the world taking part in the Dubai World Cup. The 26th Dubai World Cup is bringing together the world’s leading horse owners, trainers & jockeys & representatives of the international horse racing industry

Today I attended key sessions at the pre-summit day of the World Government Summit 2022 and was briefed on the preparations for the event. The conference brings together thought leaders and decision makers from across the world to share ideas that can shape a new future for government. Governments today need to accelerate innovation and enhance their systems to keep pace with global changes. Today, I met an Emirati medical team who performed the region's first-ever corrective fetal surgery on the spine of a 25-week-old fetus in the womb. I am proud to see this inspiring team bring hope and relief to an Emirati family preparing to welcome their healthy child. Our expert Emirati medical talents continue to uplift our confidence in our healthcare services. To all our medical & nursing staff, you are extremely valued... Thank you for your tireless efforts. Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Center for Endowment Consultancy has launched Sukuk Al Waqf, the first charitable endowment of its kind in the region. Featuring an initial contribution of AED100 m, the Waqf offers companies & individuals opportunities to support humanitarian projects. Dubai constantly explores unique new initiatives to enhance the development of various fields including the humanitarian sector. Sukuk Al Waqf provides an avenue to channel corporate social responsibility contributions to projects that benefit society.

Today, I was pleased to meet with HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait at the World Government Summit, and attend his keynote address during which he shared Kuwait’s experience in enhancing govt operations. His insights enriched the discussions at the Summit.

Today I toured the pavilions of Morocco, Switzerland & Baden-Württemberg at Expo 2020 Dubai and met with Will Ahmed, Founder & CEO of Whoop, a leading developer of wearable technology. We are always keen to engage with global tech leaders to exchange knowledge & share new ideas.

Dubai is committed to supporting start-ups as part of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to create an environment that accelerates their growth and success; Since its launch two decades ago, Dubai SME has supported Emirati entrepreneurs with AED8.4 billion worth of contracts.Emirati entrepreneurs & national enterprises in Dubai won contracts worth AED921.6 million from local & federal govt entities, semi-govt bodies and private businesses in 2021 as part of the Government Procurement Programme.

Today, I chaired the Executive Council of Dubai at Expo 2020 Dubai, during which I issued directives to set up a specialised body to ensure fair trade & consumer rights protection. The initiative will contribute to enhancing economic growth & raising Dubai’s status as a global business hub. As part of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision, trade and commerce have become a key drivers of Dubai’s economic growth. We will continue our efforts to forge new global partnerships to further raise Dubai’s status as a major international commercial and business centre.

I met with 30 young leaders named in the ‘Forbes Under 30’ list at the World Government Summit . The presence of young leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs in the Summit reflects their key role in shaping the future of our planet..The World Government Summit reflects the UAE’s commitment to create platforms for the youth to voice their opinions and share ideas. Supporting youth and developing their abilities and skills are among His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's highest priorities.

Self-driving vehicle finally out to help man kind

During the World Government Summit, I attended a session featuring Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in which she highlighted Dubai’s vision to transform its cultural and creative sectors, which contribute more than 4% of the Dubai’s GDP.

As part of recognising outstanding achievements in govt, we honoured Uruguay's Minister of Economy & Finance Azucena Arbeleche with 'Best Minister Award' at the World Government Summit. The Award recognises her role in steering the country’s resilient growth amidst the impact of the pandemic.

On the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2022, I reviewed a model of the Origin autonomous vehicle, which RTA Dubai plans to operate by 2023 as part of Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy
