It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Michelle Kerr.

Michelle worked at Roadrunner UK for over 15 years before independently continuing to work with the label under the banner of Cosa Nostra PR. She was truly a huge part of the label's history. An extraordinary PR, Michelle was responsible for press campaigns for Slipknot, Type O Negative, Opeth, Machine Head, Korn, Megadeth and so many more. Our hearts go out to everyone who knew Michelle and who experienced what a true leading light she was. She will be sorely missed by all.

Michelle lived for most of her life in Hampstead; a place she adored. A place where she loved going for long walks on the heath and frequently went wandering through Highgate Cemetery. Michelle’s wish was to have some of her ashes laid to rest in Highgate Cemetery and if possible to have a memorial bench on Hampstead Heath. Her family and close friends have arranged a fundraiser to help cover the costs. Any surplus funds will go to a charity in Michelle’s name.

A quick run down on how Generations is going to go.

First up, it's done on release dates of music so some bands may span decades. We were toying with limiting to bands that were created in each decade but that would have left a few thin pickings for some of the options! Mostly if a band is best known as an 80s or 90s band, we'll keep them in those decades, for example, Nirvana is pure 90s. Killswitch Engage is pure 00s but have dipped a toe in the 10s too.... Metallica could rock ANY decade...

10.30pm - 12pm will be your regular program of music, dancing and preparations.

12pm to 1am we will have 15mins of each decade of music.
At the end of that hour we will ask you.... which decades to keep, and which ONE gets eliminated.

1am to 2am we play the remaining 3 decades, a little more of each, and then, same again.

2am to 2:40am the two finalists will go back to back. Then at 2:40am YOU decide which the greatest decade of alternative music was and from there, we close the night with your choice!

We are beyond broken hearted.

I was at work today when the news first broke that the legendary sound tech from the Electric Ballroom Steve Waterhouse had lost his brave fight against liver cancer.

I've spent the rest of the day thinking about what to write and nothing seems to hit the mark.

So I'll just go through some memories and I hope it will do.

I first met Steve sometime in the 90s while covering sets upstairs at the Ballroom for Full Tilt, at the time I wasn't sure what to make of Steve, just that if anything needed doing he'd be there, sort it, and be gone within a few seconds. Always buzzing around always with a cheery hello but always with something important to do.

As the years went by I got to work with Steve more and more, firstly when Sin City and Section 8 moved in, then after that went and left just me and a series of other Dj's for a few years, I had more time to really get to know Steve and he was so kind, so friendly, never annoyed by an issue, always ready to jump in and help.

The experiences he must have had during his long career boggle the mind, but it's true to say that if you have attended the Electric Ballroom for any concerts, clubs or anything else then Steve will have touched your life in some small way.

As time went by and we shifted from physical media to Digital, Steve was always moving with the times, always making sure the best equipment was on hand and during the switch from CD to Digial his most important lesson was learned, that "if you ever rip a CD at 128kbps and use it on his sound system again he would remove whatever appendage you used to press play wth and insert it back in you."

It wasn't a threat. He was just so proud of the system he had built at the Ballroom and if you weren't up to standard you were out.

Outside of the ballroom Steve was a family man and I had the Pleasure of meeting his son on Friday, giving him a big hug and telling him that we were all in his corner. I wish the outcome would have been better and I know the Elecric Ballroom will never be the same again.

Our collected condolences go to his family, the staff of Electric Ballroom who worked with him for so long, all the bands and clubs he helped sound incredible and anyone else who's lives he touched. I'm sure the list is endless.

The Halls (concert halls) of Valhalla await you my friend we will meet again.
