Hailing from Southern Nepal, Ravi's go-getter spirit and love for a challenge makes him an invaluable part of our team. He loves learning about new cultures and has spent the last year mastering Portuguese cuisine. His energy is infectious and you will find him filling the kitchen with enthusiasm as he perfects your Bacalhau à Brás.

In Portugal, escabeche is a traditional method of marinating and preserving fish, typically using a mixture of vinegar, olive oil, garlic, onions, and various spices such as bay leaves, paprika, and peppercorns. On Wednesday the 24th July from 7-10pm Constantino Ramos will host a wine dinner at Bar Douro London Bridge. Constantino has been described by Jamie Goode as "One of the most exciting producers in Portugal's Vinho Verde region". 🍷

Discover Constantino's white wines including an Alvarinho from Monção e Melgaço and a Loureiro from Lima, as well as a super juicy, bright and light red called Zafirah and an intense, inky Vinhão from single 100-year-old vines called Juca. The pork ribs are marinated and slow-cooked until tender with black pig ham adding depth of flavor to the sauce and served with fresh seasonal broad beans. We are thrilled to welcome back Atum com Molho Vilão (Seared Tuna with Molho Vilão Sauce) to our menu – a perfect addition for the sunny season!☀️ This exquisite dish features delicately seared tuna, cut in slices and served with Molho Vilão also known as "Vilão sauce", a traditional sauce from the island of São Miguel in the Azores. The sauce contains red crushed pepper, peri-peri salt and garlic and is known for it's unique lend of spice and heat. 🐟

On Saturday the 15th June Miguel Queimado will host a wine tasting at Bar Douro City showcasing his wine from Vale dos Ares. Miguel is a true vigneron, only using fruit from his family's vineyards, located in the heart of the Monção e Melgaço sub-region - Vinho Verde’s Alvarinho hot spot. Miguel says “I have one grape, so if I want different styles, I need to individuate; you can do it the winery, but I want to focus on the differences in the vineyard.” 🍇

Meet our founder Max! 👋

Bar Douro was born out of a love of Portugal where owner Max spent his childhood at his family business . Max's family have been producing wine in the Douro Valley for over two centuries and he wanted to bring authentic Portuguese food & wine to London, opening Bar Douro London Bridge in November 2016 and Bar Douro City in January 2020. 🇵🇹

Nearly 8 years later we are one of the biggest importer of Portuguese wines in the UK offering Portuguese wine makers a platform to showcase their wines through our wine store . Alongside our promise to share the spirit of Portugal with you we will continue to host monthly wine events and supper clubs focusing on sustainable fishing practices. Located in Sintra, Portugal, the Pena Palace is a magnificent and vibrant castle that showcases Portugal's rich history and architectural legacy. This palace, considered one of the most exquisite in Europe, has earned a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Originally constructed in the 19th century on the grounds of a former monastery damaged during the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755, the palace was ordered by King Ferdinand II and designed by Baron Wilhelm Ludwig von Eschwege. Till this day it remains one of Portugal's most popular tourist attractions! 🏰
