So loved teaching my inversions sequence to my students this week -guiding beginners to more experienced students, to not only appreciate the simpler inversions available to us, (such as here -legs up the wall), but to also manage more advanced inversions like, Sirsasana (the headstand) to complete!
Such a pleasure to see the gradual confidence it brings students to invert fully into the more advanced inversions -and in just one session often, as well as all the fun to be had! Supported or modified, they each found a way and felt amazing for it!

Next week is more of a funcional yoga class -will be using our muscles, particularly of the back, in a way that we use these muscles correctly, to do what they are meant to, over simply using hand or arm assistance for leverage.
This doesn’t mean one way is wrong, or right to move or enter into a pose, it’s just a different way of working -firing up and initiating the right muscles correctly, in order to get into the pose actively, using the right muscles, prior to adding more depth and release with borrowing any assistance.

Of course there are many physical benefits but more notably, we are seeing mental health benefits too!
Yoga with children can allow them to redirect energy positively, helping them calm their minds and bodies, especially during anxiety periods. It may be helpful for those who can be destructive and aggressive. Yoga may increase a child’s well-being, enhance self-worth, and promote fewer negative behaviours 👌

These are basic guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life as a Yogi -serving as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct, as well as self-discipline, directing attention toward one’s health, helping us to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature… ultimately mastering our body, mind and heart.l ✨
It’s always great for me to review these myself -fine tuning and improving my own practice and teachings.
We began with The Yama’s -attitudes & actions that we should try to avoid
-passing each one in turn.
We will soon move to The Niyama’s -attitudes & actions the we should try to cultivate.
Moving toward each one in turn, sometimes intertwined or reverting back -considering that they are not steps of progression but that they all coexist and depend on each other:
Yamas - restraints, moral disciplines or vows
Niyama - positive duties or observances
Asana - postures
Pranayama - breathing techniques
Pratyahara - sense withdrawal
Dharana - focussed concentration
Samadhi - blissful enlightenment
