This recognition reflects the passion and dedication of our diverse team, whose commitment to excellence has driven Café de Nata’s success since 2016.

As a family business, we attribute our growth to the bond within our team of international chefs, baristas, and managers. From the start, we preserved the heritage of our pastéis de nata while embracing new flavours including Vegan options too, to delight our adventurous customers and cater to a wider audience.

Launched in Hammersmith in 2016 with a team from diverse backgrounds—including Portuguese master chefs, and staff from Angola, Italy, Brazil, Ukraine, and the UK—many of our original team members still form the heart of Café de Nata today.

We’re proud to offer growth opportunities, with staff advancing from baristas to shop managers, with many learning the art of baking our pastries, as well as developing many skills and taking on a range of roles.

As the first UK café-bakery specialising in freshly baked pastéis de nata, we remain committed to diversity, authenticity, and innovation. Our expansion to a current total of 5 London locations has been built on the foundation of inclusivity—creating spaces where both staff and customers feel at home.

When we ventured into the UK market, we knew we had to honor our pastry's heritage. But we also followed our creative instincts by adding a twist to tradition. In addition to the classic pastel de nata, we introduced exotic fruity natas 🫐🍏🥥 and later, vegan 🌱 varieties.

A few purists raised their eyebrows, but in London, we're surrounded by adventurous foodies eager to explore 🤤. The feedback on social media and in person has been overwhelmingly positive over the last 7+ years ✨

Our extraordinary chefs bake these exquisite pastries fresh every day, right in front of our customers, ensuring consistent quality across all our branches. Being compared to the best-known Pastel de Nata cafes in Portugal is a huge compliment 🙌

Our lesson? Breaking from tradition can be risky, but it built our unique brand identity. Traditional cafes are now also embracing flavor exploration in their pastel de nata offerings 🥳
