Spent a beautiful few days with dearest friends and family at Soho Farmhouse. Thank you and Emma for arranging. One of my original mentors the great dermatologist Dr Anthony Duvivier and his wonderful wife Judith continue to inspire us.
I had my first experience where Rory was selected to pull the sword from the stone after the failure of 2 adults and declaring a very important message that “kids are way better than adults”.
Of course, I brought my with me. Sometimes people think because they are on holiday, they should step away from their routine Klira Special - please don’t do this. The Special is all about routine and even if you are outside all day, swimming and wanting to enjoy spa treatments. You can do all these things but just with care. Make sure you wear your facial SPF every day, moisturise if you have been in a swimming pool or sea, select spa treatments that are more about relaxing and nourishing the skin rather than being harsh or trying to “treat” the skin.
Guess which hand my patient has put her KLIRA onto each night before applying her face. For six months!
Thank you for covering this important piece of health information 🤍 You can read the full article on the British Vogue Website.
The key to good outcomes in melanoma is discovering the lesion early. The thinner the melanoma is the better the outcomes with treatment.
Melanoma are usually brown/black but they can be pink or red. It is worth seeing a dermatologist if you have a mole that is behaving differently than the others by growing or changing or becoming itchy. Or a new spot lasting more than 8 weeks that may not even be brown.
Melanomas can appear under the nails or on the feet and hands and can affect all skin colours.

What an inspiring evening at the Future of Healthtech Hub last night! Organised by the wonderful Tatum Getty and Pamela Walker, we discussed innovations at the cutting edge of dermatology. I spoke on the panel about the work we are doing through to help people better understand their skin and access the very highest level of bespoke skincare. I was alongside Dr Saahil Mehta and Dr Alexandra Murray, both of whom are doing such brilliant work to push forward the boundaries in plastics and skin healing. So many inspiring individuals in one room, including the legendary - I do hope to see you all again very soon!
It’s not often you get to work alongside your best friend for forever, but how much fun is it when you do? Sigi and I were at medical school together, flat-shared together and junior doctor shifts together. Here we are almost 30 years later working together spreading the knowledge on real skin care and hormonal medicine for . The wonderful was there giving advice on nutrition and the skintoo. We had such a fun day sharing knowledge and learning ourselves from all of the content creators and journalists in attendance. This was a wonderful medical wellness event that was so wonderfully organised by . Next stop the podcast…
Perioral dermatits - the result 👀
Here is a follow up from my patient after she reduced the large number of steps she had in her routine, we simplified everything down.
Perioral dermatitis is undoubtedly one of the most common conditions we are seeing in our dermatology clinics over the last few years 🥼
Traditionally people would get this as a consequence of topical or inhaled steroid use but now the commonest reason is usually a cosmetic or sunscreen product. It’s not even down to a particular ingredient but usually the formulation and probably a lot to do with preservatives.
Her skin is back in order around about one week after a change in her treatment! 💪🏼
The pink scrubs from made me do it! 💕💖💗
I’ve been loving them so much and feeling like an absolute doll in them 😉
Well, I can’t believe that this is the end of my 4 year presidency at the British Cosmetic Dermatologists! ⭐
The room was packed - we need a bigger room next year 😉
Thank you to everyone for attending, the wonderful speakers and for all your support as BCDG secretary ❤️

As Earth Day is tomorrow, I’ve been thinking quite a bit about how we’re encouraged to make positive changes in the areas we can 🌍
for me, other than my personal lifestyle choices, the area I can try to help make a positive advancement is in the industry I work in 👩🏻⚕️
I’ll share more thoughts tomorrow on the actual but I think it’s safe to say that an extremely large amount of us invest in skincare… So we all need to be wise and make the smarter choices with what we choose to put in our bathroom cupboard (and how much we put in there!) 🧴
At Klira, we’re trying to do our bit by creating a more sustainable skincare brand 💚
There’s the reusable glass pump that holds your Klira Special 🫙
The fully recyclable pillow pack that your refill cartridge arrives in (the refill cartridges also recyclable!)🧴
Our derm team help you find the right, simplified skincare routine for you (eradicating trial–and–error and mass-consumption waste) 🥼
This is where we’re at right now, and I like to think it’s a big step in the right direction! I’m interested to hear what other people think, so please comment below! 💬
First three days around Cape Town! What an amazing country travelling round 😍
Boulder Beach for the Penguins, right down to the Cape of Good hope. Lazy seals in Bay waiting for the Snook to dry. Fabulous picnics at the Cape of Good Hope at the top of Table mountain. On to the wine lands….
Thanks to the amazing we’ve been having the most amazing trip!! Couldn’t recommend him enough and look at his photos with elephants! 😱🙌
…oh and of course I haven’t forgotten my SPF! 😂👩🏻⚕️
I am asked all the time how I would advise people to find a good and safe and qualified practitioner for delivering non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Within the UK steps are being made to make this practice safer / one of the most significant steps has been the development of Joint Council for Cosmetic Practice (JCCP). This is a step closer to safety for our patients who want to seek out injectable and laser procedures. This was set up after an attempt to overhaul the rogue cosmetic industry based on safety concerns. It struck me in the report by Sir Bruce Keogh - “there is more regulation when it comes to buying a ballpoint pen than having a filler injected into your face”. On the back of this report the JCCP and the CPSA was born. I sit alongside my peers including plastic surgery and dermatology colleagues on the CPSA to help define standards to keep patients safe. So if you are considering any injectable treatments or laser treatments it’s very easy to consult the register online and see if your practitioner is registered. This is what my certificate looks like. Hope this helps
Florence you were amazing last night❤️. This really is the best show yet! The incredible music, the stunning voice, the energy, the harp being played with a drumstick, the stage design and that dress💥

Twelve Skin Types ! Why is it when you go to the counter for your skin care you are lumped into a set of skin types which are so limited. It’s the myth we have to bust the most ! There are actually 12 skin types. It’s the first step in great skin care to know your ‘SkinSize’. Whether you are suffering from acne or simply wanting to maintain youthful skin, knowing your SkinSize is the first part of the journey. You can take the SkinSize test and start your journey with me bringing Dermatology into your home with our prescription creams made especially for you.
👩🏻⚕️ Now that so many exciting things are happening all at one, I thought it’d be easiest to clone myself!

I recently chaired a symposium at the British Association of Dermatologists Annual Meeting on “New antioxidant innovation in delivering maximum efficacy” where I discussed the science behind Silymarin CF.
Silymarin CF is an antioxidant Vitamin-C serum for daytime use. Its combination formula? L-ascorbic acid, Ferulic, Salicylic Acid, and Silymarin. The lightweight serum has been specifically formulated for comedonal prone skin types.

🔺PYRAMID OF SKINCARE: The SECRET SAUCE and the Importance of JOY 🔺
👩🏻⚕️ The very tip of the pyramid and one of the most important for continued use are these two entities.
🥰 There must be joy in the use of the product - you must love how the bottle looks, how it fits in your hand, the way the cream pumps out, the ease of its use.
🤔 Why is that important? Well, if you don’t feel the joy it is much harder to incoroprate it into your daily routine. One thing is for sure in skincare: the routine and daily use of the ingredients is what is key to success ✅
🫙The ‘Secret Sauce’ is the sprinkling of wonder - yes, it is about the scientific evidence based ingredients that are used, but it is also the base that they are formulated in and how they are incorporated together.
✨ It is about the secret recipe that holds those important ingredients together. It is also the belief in the product.
🧠 We know that simply by believing in the product you are using, you can see true clinical changes - this is called the placebo effect.
🧙 The placebo effect is a mysterious phenomenon that happens when someone’s medical symptoms are lessened through the power of expectation. Careful experiments have shown that the power of the placebo effect depends on surprising factors like the appearance of the tablets, the bottles they appear in, even the colour of the medicines. Even when people know there are no medicines in the “fake-pills” some people still get better! 😱
👩🏻⚕️ So if we can imagine the best skincare in the world can harness all of these aspects of the pyramid - rooted in real science, backed up by hundreds of thousands of patient trials and sprinkled with joy to ensure people use and believe in the product… Well then you are WINNING!!
🔺PYRAMID OF SKINCARE: Additional Clinical Experience🔺
😫 I do know I was due to post these a few days ago - but the ironic thing that stopped me posting these is that i was actually at the very meetings and award receptions that make this stage of skincare possible! 🤩
🔺 Today’s subject is additional clinical experience, which is a great layer for us dermatologists to really use our research & experience! This is where things can really become more nuanced, too.
🥼 Part of what I love about is how by working with a dermatological team, you can have a skincare routine well tailored to your personal, nuanced needs! 🤍🥼
🍊Like I mentioned in the video, ‘Lab Muffin’ on YouTube is a great creator who does a video on Vitamin C! I’ll link the video in my story sometime so keep an eye out!
🔺 Only one more part to go! See you soon!

👩🏻⚕️ PYRAMID OF SKINCARE: Specific Skin Concerns 👩🏻⚕️
🔺 Today’s post we go up the the 3rd layer of the Skincare Pyramid, which becomes slightly more nuanced: Specific Skin Concerns.
👩🏻⚕️ Treating these specific concerns with the correct treatment (with the best evidence supporting it) is something I thoroughly recommend you do with the help of a dermatologist! I’m proud that with having access to professional help will be straightforward for everyone!
❓ Do you have any specific skin concerns that you’ve had treated professionally? Let me know your story in the comments! ❓
Looking forward to tomorrow’s part 4! Loving this streak I’ve managed to keep up, thank you for following me through it! 🙌🏻👩🏻⚕️
👩🏻⚕️ PYRAMID OF SKINCARE: Ingredients 👩🏻⚕️
🖥 Welcome to day 2 of my 5-part series, focusing on the multiple layers to approaching skincare!
🔺 Today’s video is explaining the 3 sections of ingredients: cleansing, moisturising, & protecting from the sun! From knowing your more thoroughly (the base layer of the Skincare Pyramid), these steps can become so simple and easy to do daily!
💷 An important factor to remember is how much of these ingredients you should be applying on a daily basis - so spending loads of money on fancy products isn’t always the best choice!
🤍 Prioritise finding the correct products for YOUR skin, at an affordable price, so you can keep up your skincare routine consistently!
🥼With we’re focusing on not only simplicity and effectiveness, but affordability, too!
👩🏻⚕️ See you tomorrow with Part 3!
