✨ Meet Serhat Ahmet, our European porcelain specialist, pictured here outside his shop on Cecil Court.
A second-generation antiques dealer, Serhat specialises in European porcelain from 1720 to 1935. After a brief stint working in the oil and gas sector, Serhat joined the family business. After twenty-five years, Serhat decided to set up his own business in 2013, focusing on works from world-renown manufacturers such as Meissen, KPM Berlin, and Sèvres, as well as some smaller boutique producers. His extensive knowledge of the subject has led him to form several notable private collections and is a leading industry specialist, often apnpearing on the BBC Antiques Road Show.
If you find yourself in central London, make sure to check out his shop on Cecil Court! 🌟
Big man, little map: this broadsheet was advertised in the York Courant on 2 December 1760 as a sixpenny map ‘shewing at one view, the present seat of war’ and was sold in London by Whiston Bristow, a bookseller in St Paul’s Churchyard. This is the only map engraved by Robert Ledger, a linen draper who happily met with rather more success in his non-map business endeavours.
