This dish was inspired by our new sharing themed Set Menu, and what better thing to share than a packet of crisps down the pub… here is Coal Rooms take on it… 👨🍳
We use a variety of potatoes, (Red Russets, Agria and Lovers) so they have a slightly varied sugar content, which means they caramelise at different times once cooked. We also crinkle slice our potatoes before boiling and frying them to ensure the maximum crispness 👌 we chose to make a dip to accompany this, by infusing pickled shallots and summer truffles with crème fresh then adding Yorkshire pecorino, more truffles a little yuzu juice and some freshly chopped chives.
Simple, delicious and VERY moreish… you have been warned 😉

“We take beautiful pork belly form , brine it in a mix of dark brown sugar salt, thyme and cloves, we then pat it dry and smoke it over treated birch wood embers low and slow until it forms a rich brown bark on the outside, we then press the cooked belly over night and slice it up the next day. We save all of the amazing smokey stock and fat that oozes out, and combine them with a syrup made from last seasons poach rhubarb liquor balanced with apple cider vinegar, we then fold this through our rich egg yolk French mustard mayo to create what we think is the ultimate accompaniment to our bacon which is seared on our grills plancher to form the perfect crisp!
We then assemble the sandwiches with a Hoagie roll, lathers of our bacon mayonnaise, baby gem lettuce and sliced vine tomatoes with a pot of the magic mayo for all those who have the need to dunk!”

We're happy to announce that bookings for Sunday Roasts are now open. You can book up to 30 days in advance, for tables of up to 4 people. We'll be sticking to a limited capacity for the foreseeable. Hope to see lots of you soon!

Good news - we’ve got single origin beans on the counter for you to pop by and pick up. ☕️ The Cafe is open daily, 8am - 4pm, with homemade brownies and sandwiches on the counter too. You’ve clearly missed us as much as we’ve missed you! Demand for Sunday Roasts was off the scale and we’re now fully booked for Sunday. Thank you to all those who have booked (or tried to), the support is incredible.
We’ve decided to open up Saturday (4th July) for Roasts too, so that more of you can get your fix! We’ll be open 12-8pm, and bookings can be made now via the website. There will be limited click + collect Roast available all weekend, pre-order is open on the website now.
All the same provisions will be in place to ensure that we’re able to keep our team and our guests safe:

We’re back!
The Coal Rooms cafe is now open for takeaways! 8am - 4pm seven days a week, here to provide that Old Spike Roastery caffeine fix. ☕️ Pastries joining the lineup again from Wednesday and there’s also beer and wine for sale. Plus you can now order and takeaway Fat Boy BBQ from 4pm Thursday & Friday and 12pm on weekends.

We know lots of you will be wondering why. Last weekend it became clear that we could no longer keep up with the crazy demand, whilst also keeping our team safe. A refined yet relaxed bar, restaurant and cafe offering a gutsy menu of meat and fish cooked over our bespoke charcoal grill and oven. Think Dry aged duck breasts, Mangalitsa cowboy steaks, Roasted cod heads, and 40 day-aged Dexter sirloin and rib. An imaginative list of house sauces accompanies such as Red eye gravy , Crab apple jelly, Jerk caramel, and Greengage and mead ketchup.
