Future Farmers

Farmers are looking for more workers, so if fancy ditching the laptop and getting your hands dirty then read on.. We will match you up with a farming business that is looking for help. You will spend the day learning how the farm works and getting involved. We will cover the cost of your travel to and from the farm and you will be provided with lunch. You will need to be prepared to work a full day standing and of course to get muddy! The date will be determined by the farm to fit in with suitable work. You probably won't get to drive a tractor; just to avoid any disappointment.

To apply for one of a limited number of places please email [email protected] with 'Future Farmer' as the subject of your email and tell us:

- Your name
- Your post code (to help us match you to your nearest suitable farm)
- Type of farming that most interests you (e.g. fruit, vegetable, livestock, dairy etc.)
- If you have plans for a rural food business of your own and are looking for premises
or land to farm then let us know.

Let them eat turnips

There’s been plenty of news about empty shelves in supermarkets but who wants to eat out of season cucumbers when there’s turnips to be had at your local farmers market! And obviously not just turnips, there’s piles of delicious winter vegetables, apples and much more waiting for you. Ditch the supermarket this weekend and come and eat the seasons.

Love your farmers market!

We love shopping from our favourite stalls at Blackheath farmers market.

If you're thinking about spoiling your loved ones or want to spoil yourself, how about a pre Valentines Day breakfast in bed? Perhaps with a few posies on the tray from Grange Nurseries.

We all have our favourite breakfast grub. Grab your bacon and eggs from the market, or fresh fruit to create a compote and spoon over a pile of pancakes or waffles or serve with market yogurt. What about a breakfast mimosa using delicious fresh juice from Perry Court Farm, Chegworth Valley or Nordic water kefir instead of orange juice. There's always a great selection of bread (French toast anyone?) and breakfast pastries and croissants. Take your pick of preserves from Potters Preserves.

Bexley Brewery Ltd, Bottlebrush Ferments, Happy Bees, Nordic Wellness, Yummy Bites and Quickes Traditional are back at market this Sunday. Enjoy the market this Sunday.

Also, we're delighted to welcome Forest Biltong to the market. Ed is passionate about wild game and turns it into a delicious variety of biltong.

November at Blackheath farmers market; the clocks have gone back, it's time to hibernate, or at least stock up on new season game, warming root vegetables and winter squash, think about soups, stews and puddings and staying warm and cosy! Apples and pears are still sweet and abundant.

Looking ahead to December, as we won't be open on Christmas Day, there will be a market on Thursday 22nd December, 10am-1pm. This will be the last market of the year.

Place your orders for meat and poultry with your favourite farm stalls including Beatbush Farm, Court Farm, Stockings Farm and Laycroft.
Please support your local farmers and help them get through the bird flu pandemic. Many farms in the UK have lost their flocks. All English and Welsh farmers have to now keep their birds inside, including ducks, geese and turkeys as bird flu poses a very serious threat to all birds, domestic and wild. Talk to them to find out more.
