🥵PART 2 🥵 🥵SAMANTHA🥵
..................................................
My grandfather and grandmother used to live in the village, but they are now both deceased.
One day, I had a plan....
*******************************
I decided to leave the house one day by running away.
I devised a strategy to sneak out with the little clothes I had, but this plan could only be carried out overnight.

That morning, at 4:00 a.m., I was awakened by the splash of water that soaked me.

My aunty (Lucia) came in with a bucket of water into the room I used to sleep in, and wasted it on me with an angry expression on her face.

"You moron!" Your idiot late mother didn't train you, did she?
How could you have slept until this late in the morning?

Don't you realize you have to wake up, bathe, and dress my children for school? and don't you know you have to go sell the leftover Ankara and peanut from yesterday?!

Get your damned self out of here and start doing what you're supposed to do! -She said fiercely.

When I leapt up and tried to pass her at the doorway, she smacked me across the face with her slipper, and I lost sight for over 10 minutes.

At the time, it felt like my eyes had been yanked out of their sockets.
In pain, I yelled. But no one came to my rescue.

I hurried to the kitchen to begin cleaning those nasty dishes after regaining sight and consciousness after a few moments.

I eventually went to sell after all of the housework. I knew deep down that I was departing on this same day's evening.

Fortunately for me, all of the things were purchased very early that day.

I went straight to the house of an old friend of mine, Beverly, with whom I sat in nursery and who was also my childhood neighbor. Her parents' house was just next to ours before it was destroyed by fire. She was now an adult, just like me.

I lost contact with Beverly after my parents relocated us after our house burned down.

After 11 years of drifting apart, I eventually ran across Beverly on the street one day.

And this is how it happened: one day while selling, the sun was setting and I still had a large amount of peanut and Ankara to sell.

While I was sitting along the road, thinking about the beating I was going to get from Aunty Lucia when I got home, a red Ranger rover pulled over on the opposite side of the road and a lady from within asked how much the peanut was.

I soon forgot about my worries and dashed up to the car, telling her the amount.

I was overjoyed when she purchased the entire remaining inventory! I had no idea God was so kind until this moment.

I took my money and thanked her.
I was on my way home, almost halfway across the road, when she called me to stop. I was confused why she would have to stop me again when we had no dealing..

was it that the peanut she bought from me had a problem? or was it anything else? I doubted myself.

I was terrified, but I mustered the bravery to return across the road to her.

She asked for my name, and I told her it was Esther rather than SAMANTHA because I don't feel comfortable telling strangers my real name.

When she asked what I was so thrilled about and why, at such a grown up age, I was still walking around with groundnut and Ankara on my head when I could be in college or doing something useful for a living.

when I told her what I was going through and that I was going to get a beating if the remaining of the things were not purchased.

She felt sorry for me the moment she heard this.
She gave me her phone number and address so that I could find her the next day. She even gave me $6,000 LD and said she could do more for me.

She even stated we might be friends if I didn't mind, and I agree, but I'm not sure I could be friends with such a classic girl.

I felt like I knew her from the way she looked and spoke, but where could I have seen her? That was the question I was pondering.

"Don't forget to find me," she murmured, hurrying off.

That is how I obtained her address.

•••
So on this particular day, I went to squander some time until it was late in the evening before heading home.

I was able to find her house using the location or house address she gave me on a piece of paper few months ago that I carried with me.

When I arrived at her house, she was overjoyed to see me.
She's invited me over to her house numerous times, each time she sees me selling on the streets, but I've always declined since shame made me believe I wasn't in her class to pay her a visit.

On multiple instances, she has always handed me money when she spotted me selling.

She resided in her own apartment on the outskirts of town.

This girl had a very well-equipped home with security at the front gate. The house featured two garages, was well air conditioned, properly set out with reservoirs, and had good bathrooms with new shower machines in each.

I was greeted with a warm grin, and she led me to a nicely set-up dining table.

I was greeted with a warm grin, and she led me to a nicely set-up dining table.

My good friend! It's good to see you again today.
I'm glad I wasted some time because I was about to go somewhere, but I'll have to postpone my trip since you're here, Esther, and I'm so pleased to see you.

Let's go in, let me get you something to eat. With a smile on her face, she entered the kitchen.

while I sat looking everywhere with amazement, like someone who just came to the city from the village...

She returned a few minutes later with two dishes, both of which included some exquisite meal I'd never had before.

We sat at the table and started talking about everything until I was astonished when she said her name was Beverly and where she originally lived as a child with her parents before going to her own flat after high school.

And that she split up with her partner two years ago and no longer trusts men, which is why she lives alone.
She told me she worked somewhere in town and that she would tell me about it.

This was the point at which I finally let the cat out of the bag by giving her my genuine name and identity.

When she heard this, she dropped her food and we both collapsed in each other's arms, tears streaming down our cheeks.

We cried for a long time.
She quickly invited me to move in with her, but I told her I needed to go back home and retrieve few things things before returning to her, which was my few important clothes.

She drove me several miles before reaching our street in her automobile.
I told her to drop me off halfway to our compound before she got in trouble with my Aunty.

She dropped me off, said she would be expecting to see me soon, and then left.

Fortunately, when I arrived at our compound, aunty Lucia had gone to the beauty salon to get her hair fixed, while her children were in the living room watching TV.

I went into our room and began gathering my belongings into a bag. Whenever I heard approaching footsteps, I pretended I wasn't packing.

I had finished packing and was waiting for dusk to fall before fleeing.

To be continued...

What do you think will happen to Samantha during her stay with a friend who doesn't have a boyfriend?
Despite the fact that Beverly is a wealthy lady, is she not involved in something fishey?

let's find out in the next episode.

🥵PART 1🥵 🥵SAMANTHA🥵
..................................................
My name is Samantha, and I'm a pr******te. I'm a woman who is about 23 years old.

My narrative began many years ago, when I was living peacefully with my mother and father in the western Liberian city of Gbarnga, in the county of B**g.

My father just had a diploma from high school, while my mother was a nurse with a Bsc from Cuttington University in B**g County.

He had his own little shop where he worked as a technician.
I was a year old and in nursery school when something dreadful happened one day that changed our lives forever. There was a fire outbreak in our home while I was in school.

All of my mother's papers and our prized possessions were destroyed in the fire. We had nothing to show for it.

My parents were so frustrated.
My parents were able to find another flat to rent with help of the small amount of money my dad had in the bank.

I left the nursery school because my parents' financial struggles forced them to make a change.
So my dad had to carry the entire load.
We became a joke book for our neighbors, friends, and family members.

My mother encountered anger, jealousy, and laughter at her workplace, which led her to react one day to one of these individuals.

Both my mother and the woman who triggered her were being judged, but my mother was fired because the verdict was flawed.

This happened because of my mother's opponent's strategy.
My mother became terribly ill out of frastration and worriness.

My father spent a lot of money treating my mother's terrible sickness, taking her to every cutting-edge hospital in the nation, but it didn't help.

He spent every penny he earned from his shop, which even caused his company to fail.
He took steps to get credit from his buddies.

Because of our situation, nearly every member of our family mocked and shunned us.

My father did all he could but nothing worked.
Sadly, my mother passed away from hypertension, as a result of earlier trauma.
By then I was 3 years old.

It was also difficult to remember things like my mother's personality and appearance at such a young age.

Because of my father's intense affection for my mother, my father began acting strangely after she passed away. He began to prowl the streets like a lunatic.

Every day, some kind neighbors and friends would go looking for him and bring him home, but to no avail—he would continue to disappear without anyone's knowledge.

Eventually, after several months of this unhappiness, my dad vanished again.
They looked everywhere but couldn't find him.

Dad was gone for good. That was my last time setting eyes on him. how depressing.
One night, a widowed neighbor of ours discovered me laying on the ground in the middle of the night and brought me home after realizing I had no one to care for me.

For almost a week, things were going rather well for me when another torture began.
She gave me the go-ahead to start selling ankara and peanuts for her, with the caveat that everything must be purchased before I get home; otherwise, I won't have food to eat. When I first started selling on the streets, how terrible it was for someone at my age.

I was mocked and laughed at, everyday, by children going to school.
I felt so lost. I wish I had Diēd alongside my mom, i guess by now i would've been together in a better place somewhere.

Written by: Joseph ukam stories ✍️

All the happiness I shared with my parents were all lost forever .

I slept on the streets a lot because I was afraid of going home with any leftover peanuts or ankara.
The following day, after selling the last of the surviving business, I would take the hardest pounding of my life for not returning home the previous day.
Where might I go?

My grandfather and grandmother used to live in the village, but they are now both deceased.
One day, I had a plan....
