Some exciting news; we took home two of the biggest awards at the UK Company Culture Awards last night!
We won Gold for Best Approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing, trumping some major, well-known UK companies. We also won Silver for the Best Cultural Initiative; we put our Happiness Manifesto forward for both of these.
It's a major group achievement! Thanks to everyone's voices, input and feedback, we're now officially recognized for having one of the best company cultures in the UK. Culture doesn't stop at beanbags and standardized benefits - it starts with listening to your employees about what really matters to them.
Congratulations to all Finalists, there was some seriously inspiring work on display!

We've got some exciting news - Go Up has been nominated for two UK Company Culture Awards!
Since the pandemic, we've been working hard to align all the good stuff we do within the agency and to give our employees every opportunity to become their best selves. That meant...
✔️ Re-defining our mission, purpose, and values
✔️ Championing individualism, health, and wellbeing
✔️ Partnering with the World's Greenest Football Club, Forest Green Rovers Football Club
✔️ The introduction of a new flexible working policy
✔️ The co-creation of an agency-wide Happiness Manifesto
Our Happiness Manifesto was authored by the whole team. It went beyond basic perks and incentives to genuinely improve the lives of everyone working at Go Up.
Better still, we’re doing everything we can to make sure those values are upheld in our business, our culture, and the wider community we impact on.
As a result...
✔️ We've been nominated for Best Transformative Culture (UK-wide)
✔️ We've also been nominated for Best Health and Wellbeing Awareness Program Initiative (Agency)
✔️ Our people say stuff like: "The culture at Go Up and attitude towards health and wellbeing is why people stay and enjoy working here. It’s a modern outlook, there’s a social side and genuine flexibility. "
We look forward to celebrating with all fellow finalists next month!
We're back with a bang!
After a brief hiatus from Social Media, expect to see more great content coming your way.
Did you see the recent interview between Green Tycoon Dale Vince and our Founders?
If not - check out our feed or head over to our YouTube for more great snippets like these.
“Business has got us into this mess, so business can get us out of it”.
Green Industrialist Dale Vince speaks to ethical marketing agency Go Up about purposeful green business
It’s not every day that Go Up’s founders get to sit down with the likes of Dale Vince, Forest Green Rovers Football Club chairman, and green energy tycoon. The trio discussed everything from the blinkered orthodoxy of the football industry, where Dale is defying doubts that an eco-friendly agenda and on-field success can coexist, to climate change and what small businesses such as Go Up can do to combat it.
On tackling climate change, Go Up’s Chief Executive Ed shared his frustrations with Dale towards the lack of collective progress in combating the crisis. “The last 10 years, to be totally frank, have been very depressing and frustrating,” said Ed. “Is what you are doing, is what we are doing, completely fruitless?”
Luckily, Dale’s perspective on climate change is surprisingly refreshing.

is just under a week away, and many believe it to be the world’s best last chance to get runaway climate change under control.
For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs – which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’.
In that time climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority.
In the run up to , Go Up has been holding agency-wide talks as to how we can better align our processes with the planet, and one of outcomes has been the formulation of a Green Manifesto.
Furthermore, our founders Tom Skinner and Edward Coram James had the opportunity to sit down with green industrialist Dale Vince and addressed everything from climate change to the environmental impact of working from home.
We'll share the video footage soon, and hope that everyone is able to pull as many learnings from the conversation as we were.

We Are Search UK Search Awards Finalists, 2021
We’re quite humble here at Go Up, often letting campaign results speak for themselves. However, following our tenth anniversary, we thought it about time to submit our recent work for a few awards.
Go Up is happy to announce that our work has been officially recognised and that we've been shortlisted as finalists in the 2021 We Are Search UK Search Awards, in all three categories entered:
Best Use of Search - Finance [SEO]
Best Use of Content Marketing
Best Use of PR in a Search Campaign
Special congratulations to our Search, Design, Content Marketing and Digital PR teams who have demonstrated immense innovation and creativity.
We’re looking forward to the awards ceremony on Tuesday 16th of November, and we’re proud to share that we’ve got this far already.
If you’d like to request a case study of any of the above campaigns, feel free to get in touch.
Go Up is 10! 🎊
It goes without saying that updating our branding makes a whole lot of sense when a company’s been around the sun as many times as we have, and we’re working hard to launch our new website in the coming months.
However, it doesn’t stop there.
Stay tuned for the release of both our Happiness and Green Manifesto’s which have been co-authored by all of our people and will underpin our day-to-day activities - inspiring good people to do good things both inside and outside of the agency.
Most of all, we’re looking forward to celebrating with the people that have contributed to our success and culture over the years and sharing the lessons we’ve learned along the way. We’re also excited to share more of our company values with you all, the people who have supported us throughout our journey.
Thanks for everything, we’ll be raising a glass to the next ten later this week!
Go Up 💚
Congratulations Dale Vince, Henry C. Staelens, and to all the team involved in the launch of GreenCode (http://greencode.world), a new initiative aimed at organisations wishing to enhance their sustainability efforts in a cost-effective and credible manner.
We've thoroughly enjoyed the onboarding process thus far and chatting with the visionaries behind the initiative - we're excited to see what the future holds!
GreenCode “I’m definitely more conscious of where I buy things from in the last few years. If a company acts responsibly towards the environment, then it makes a big difference to me, and I know it’s the same for many of my friends too”
Raise your hand if you've looked into a staycation within the last year!
While it has become quite the leisurely respite for many Britons over the last year, in the years preceding the pandemic it was anything but.
The renaissance of the great British summer holiday has seen a huge tourism boom in small towns all over the country — from those within swathes of untouched highlands in Scotland to the charming villages dotted along the colossal Jurassic Coast in Dorset and beyond.
However, with an increase in travel comes an increase in localised carbon footprint. While a lack of demand for consumer air travel has helped to reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, there's still more that can be done at home.
That's why we were super impressed with the innovative mission of Byway — a slow travel specialist committed to a new type of holiday that’s focused on slowing down the journey, personalising the experience, and keeping carbon footprint to a minimum — bringing sustainable leisure travel into the mainstream.
Go Up's mission? To do good work, with good people, for good people. Naturally, we're incredibly excited about what's to come at Byway.
Congratulations on the recent £1.1M funding, and to founder Cat Jones — keep up the good work!

SEO and a solid digital marketing strategy are vital to business in the modern world, ensuring that people searching for a business find the perfect one.
Although smaller businesses can sometimes be outdone by larger corporations with big budgets, capitalising on free tools like Google Analytics, if used correctly, can help the underdogs win the clicks at the end of the day.
Go Up's CEO Edward Coram James has just been featured in the Express, covering the Go Up story and the future of marketing.

How friends created multimillion pound business with £15,000 inheritance EDWARD CORAM-JAMES founded a leading digital marketing agency in his early twenties, fuelled by inheritance from his dad and the need to do something important. Starting with just a rented desk in an easy office, the business now has 33 employees and sees around £2million turnover.
Accessible design relates to how easy it is to use your website, specifically for people with disabilities of any kind.
We've addressed some of the most vital components of designing for accessibility as part of this week's .
1. Make sure that your colour contrast is strong enough to enable those with visual disabilities to use your site as intended
2. Support keyboard navigation, which will enable those with motor disabilities to navigate your website with ease
3. Make sure to use other ways of conveying information than colour, such as iconography
Accessible design shouldn’t be viewed solely as a way to make your website accessible to all, but as a fundamental design principle guiding optimised UX and UI.
Creativity is often misinterpreted as an artistic pursuit.
Every time we say somebody else is creative because they get to write plays, songs or make art…. every time we say ‘I don’t have that kind of talent…’ we’re selling ourselves short.
What it means to be creative is pretty simple. It’s to do something human, something generous, something that might not work. It has to be all 3 of those things. You will find creative accountants, politicians, cleaners, and engineers… being creative is to solve interesting problems!
In this week's team-led marketing, wellness, and personal development presentation, Harry took the reins and shared some of the most powerful lessons he's learnt about creativity. In short?
Creativity is an action, not a feeling!

Scientists are using Amazon Web Services to study the melting glaciers in the Peruvian Andes, where a warming climate is threatening the landscape at the heart of the region’s culture and economy.
In partnership with Peru’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, researchers built models using AWS to research the glacial recession.
The same sensors and data gathering infrastructure will also help Peruvian agencies pinpoint and predict landslides, mudslides, flooding, and other effects from the melting glaciers.
Fantastic use of technology in the fight against climate change, and a reminder to us all to look beyond the surface of what our existing tools are capable of.

More consumers are holding brands accountable to sustainability commitments, whilst 81% agree that clearly demonstrating a commitment to sustainability adds value to a brand.
“These results demonstrate the importance that consumers place on a brand’s sustainability credentials and show that they are willing to use their wallets to make their feelings known. For brands to retain loyalty from their customers, they need to be clear about their commitment to acting,” said Alistair McEwan, the senior vice president of commercial development for APAC at BBC Global News.
“Those that fail to do so open themselves to criticism, so it is vital that brands shape their narrative and communicate their message transparently and authentically, and working with trusted storytellers like the BBC will enable that.”
This is more than just a trend, it's a behavioural shift. What's your business doing to keep up and benefit the planet?
