Mat sadly lost his life to epilepsy five years ago. Having been a keen runner and ‘always on the go’, Mat completed the seven times. Dr Janine Winterbottom is a consultant nurse in epilepsy at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool and Clinical Co-Lead for the Institute’s Reproduction & Hormones theme. In 2022, Dr Kathryn Bush was awarded an Emerging Leader Fellowship Award to assess socioeconomic inequalities for people living with epilepsy in the UK. Initial findings from this ongoing project have been published in The Lancet Public Health, a prestigious international medical journal. Lesslie Young is the Chief Executive of Epilepsy Scotland and, as one of the Founding Partners of the Epilepsy Research Institute, holds a seat on our Trustee Board. We are delighted to share that Lesslie was recently awarded an OBE for services to people with epilepsy in Scotland.
