Hello everyone. I am currently studying Anthropology at University of Cambridge (online) and today we were analysing the cultural role food plays in human behaviour. We just completed this quiz and I thought you may enjoy it. Best wishes, Tamiko
Mind Your Manners: Can You Ace This Food Etiquette Quiz? From formal dining to cultural taboos, take our test to prove you’re no dinner table dunce – no matter where you are in the world
Back to School has always been my favourite time of year. It’s a fresh start with endless opportunities! As one who was not generally excited by technology, I have come to appreciate the access it gives us to a world of continuing education that can be moulded around other family, business and life commitments. This year my online educational challenge will be the study of anthropology, with a focus on further enhancing an appreciation for the variability in human social organisation and developing an even deeper understanding of how different cultural groups respond to global issues.
Anyone who knows me knows how deeply my passion runs for intercultural communication and so this back-to-school year, I very much look forward to distilling more of the complex concepts that inspire the parameters around the way we think, behave, negotiate, resolve conflict, interact and build relationships with people from different backgrounds and cultures. With this, I shall continue to develop our teams so that we can continue to support our clients with the most extensive range of international business etiquette and protocol consulting knowledge.
For those of you who are also fired up about intercultural etiquette and further developing your skills, perhaps one of our one-week Train-the-Trainer/Certification courses could be the start of your exciting journey. If so, I would love to welcome you to one of the following courses in London:
October 21 - 25
International Youth Etiquette Certification
October 27 - November 2
International Social Etiquette Certification
November 11 - 15
International Business Etiquette Certification
November 18 – 22
International Protocol & Diplomacy Certification
*Online options and France-based residential options are available for some of the above trainings.
Whatever you have planned for the school year ahead, I wish you an exciting journey!

Food, Culture and Manners
Etiquette is more important today than ever before as we interact with others from around the world. Everyone knows that we must respect other cultures but at Minding Manners International, we believe that respect should extend beyond mere tolerance and as such, delve into a deeper, more profound understanding of other cultures. That is why each of our Train-The-Trainer/Certification programmes is infused with numerous international dining tutorials, where we address cultural identity, customs, and manners through food traditions.
Culture is influenced by food through various means, for instance history, tradition, religion, geography, and family. Each of these components contribute to making us unique…different not only in terms of the seen, but also in terms of the unseen. By understanding a culture’s food traditions, we can better understand more about their values, which in turn will heighten our appreciation and allow us to develop the actions and thoughts that display our respect in the most honourable way.
Join us as we discover exquisite cuisines and dining etiquette customs in the Arab Middle East, China, England, France, Italy, Japan, Russia and the USA.

We are deeply saddened by the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II and extend our sincerest condolences. She was, and remains, loved by the nation as well as those near and far.
Her eldest son Charles is now King, having acceded to the throne immediately upon her death.
The Queen was a highly respected Monarch in the United Kingdom and around the world due to the great leadership she embodied. Her Majesty’s deep devotion to public and voluntary engagement was captured in her words, "I have to be seen to be believed."
The Queen trusted that to be a great leader, she must lead by example. She stood out with her work ethic, respect for different points of view, elegance, and compassion.
In one of her speeches, Her Majesty encouraged us to make a difference in the world with kindness, “On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.”
