Both and I wanted to move forward with positive momentum despite the lockdown, a time that is difficult for our industries whether in culture or catering with making something ambitious to bring a smile in difficult times and wish people well with happiness, health and prosperity. Both our parents are immigrants who left their homelands to build a better life for themselves and to raise us to provide the best opportunities they could give.
❤️
For me and I think for Andrew our greatest teachers are our hard working parents who kept our ancestral roots profoundly important to our sense of identity. Art is made from the stories deep within our hearts from which they intertwine with our life experiences to be shaped into the real world whether that medium is in food or an art installation. Within these forms are visceral sensations that our human condition craves and needs. Tendrils of storylines and emotions that bind our identities so that we can unify groups, communities, societies, nations and civilisations. Sometimes a reminder of beauty, joy and pleasure sparks a sense of humanity that can shine a light through the darkness, to remind us what it means to be human and even bring a welcome smile.

For the last five years and I have been digging into China’s food philosophies, long-standing culinary histories and cooking cultures to try and make Chinese food that people could think with, as well as love eating.
Next year we hope to present the painful and playful lessons that we have learnt along the way at . Please vote for our panel and give us the opportunity to entertain and inform with these blind alleys, costly mistakes and final creations. Link in bio!
