The HACKNEY HOT! 🍕 ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Organic tomato passata, sweet pickled beets, chilis, our blend of 3 British cheeses and a kicking chilli salsa.

Flying out the oven today ❤️ Best paired with our natural Albana orange on tap. Its fuller body and gentle tannins are an excellent match for this spicy devil.

HOW WE TRANSFORMED OUR RESTAURANT ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Naturally, we had our wedding breakfast at Flat Earth – the whole day was deeply personal and very local. Just how we like it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s how we converted our neighbourhood pizzeria into the perfect wedding venue:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Seating Arrangement:
🍴 We arranged 7 tables for 8 people each, including the bar that acted as the top table.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Tablescaping:
🍽️ We used subtle check tablecloths, pink plates, and colourful napkins made from saris, folded into rattan napkin rings.
🌺 Katie from added 3 vases of British summer flowers to each table, each one unique.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Decorations:
🍀Katie decorated our 3 concrete pillars with foliage, artfully wrapped around each one.
💐She also gifted us a big bouquet picked at to sit on the main bar.
🌈We hung hand-sewn bunting made by my new sister-in-law ❤️.

4. Personal Touches:
✍🏽Hand-drawn boards and signs, including the seating plan, were created by .tattoo.
🎨 We printed a funny illustration of us on a fabric banner to cover up the usual FE wine board, making it more personal and less restaurant-like.
⚡️We changed the signage outside! So it read ‘Congratulations Rich & Sarah. Just Married’ in place of where Flat Earth usually is

5. Facility Upgrade:
🚽 We built a brand new toilet thanks to Rich’s brother Jon! This was a biggie. Having had only one toilet for 2 years was manageable but sometimes inconvenient on busy weekends.

We were so happy with how all our efforts turned out. The most colourful space thanks to the blending of personal touches and essential improvements 🔨

JULY // REFLECTIONS

WE GOT MARRIED! 💍❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What a stuffed crust of a month !! We tied the knot on the most glorious (and hottest) day of the year. After a ceremony at Hackney Town Hall, we enjoyed an incredible wedding meal at Flat Earth, created by . My dad noted in his speech that we were “the only award-winning pizzeria not serving pizza”—and indeed, not a dough ball in sight ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The day was truly special. We’d spent the day before transforming the restaurant with the icing on the cake coming from and her explosion of colourful British picks from . Leyo, Johann and Flora (3 of our long suffering team members) delivered outstanding service under what must have felt like quite a higher pressure shift! They nailed it and we’re very grateful.

The celebration continued at our , with heartfelt thanks to Jamie and James for arranging it (as well as lending us tables for our lunch). We had live music by . If you’ve ever dropped by for pizza on a Friday night, you’ve probably met Oly—this is his band. Here’s hoping he remembers us when he hits it big!💥

Owning and operating a restaurant with your husband is not an easy thing—or any business for that matter. We drive each other crazy but wouldn’t and couldn’t do it with anyone else.

We’ll share more details about the food and the restaurant transformation soon, but we promise not to flood you with wedding spam ☠️.

REFLECTIONS // JUNE ☀️☀️

Busy month starting with celebrating 2 years of our lovely restaurant. To commemorate, our Pet Nats were £5 all weekend 🥳

We had our busiest week yet 🤩

Rich and I are getting married this month (July)! That means that our opening hours are skewed a bit - not least because our wedding ‘breakfast’ will be held at the restaurant, but also because of preparations and trips away. Our brilliant team will hold down the fort for anytime that we’re not here - as always - but some hours might be reduced a little. Will keep everyone updated on here and on our website. We’re also having some maintenance - we’re adding another loo to reduce queuing on busy weekend evenings!

The sunshine has been a welcome change! The al fresco dining on Costa del Cambridge Heath has been copious and a lot of fun. We’ve also had picnics in the park and BBQs in our garden. There’s been a lot of catching up to do after such a horrible start to summer!☀️

We celebrated English Wine Week with our friends at .folc . We poured their fantastic rosé to so much acclaim that it’ll soon be permanent fixture on our drinks menu.

We’ve eaten at .seoul , had a day trip to the seaside and visited (our favourite) and a few other wine bars.

There was Refugee Week where we teamed up with to raise money and essential supplies for anyone displaced who need it the most right now.

OPENING HOURS / Hey, lovely Flat Earth fam—we’re closing Sunday and Monday for some upgrades and refurbishment to our little restaurant.

We’ll be open and back to our usual shenanigans on Tuesday at 5 pm.

TWO YEARS OF FLAT EARTH, CAMBRIDGE HEATH ROAD🎈🎈🎈

Come and help us celebrate our restaurant’s birthday this Saturday + Sunday (1st +2nd June) and enjoy £5 Pet Nats all weekend long.

It’s amazing how time has flown! It seems like just yesterday we were all hands on deck to open our doors for the first time, yet the progress we’ve made feels monumental. The first few months were exceptionally tough, but now, with our incredible team in place, we’re improving and evolving every day.

It took us 12 gruelling months for the sales to be where we needed them in order to keep the wheels from falling off. Then, after our windows were smashed for the third time, we had to crowdfund for electric shutters to avoid closure.

For a good year and a half, Rich and I felt tethered to the restaurant. But now, thanks to our fantastic team, we’ve regained a bit of our social life and can enjoy a taste of that elusive work/life balance ✨

A huge thanks to everyone who has supported Flat Earth through working with us, eating our food, drinking our drinks, and, of course, championing us. You make our little neighbourhood restaurant a place we’re truly proud of ❤️

💥 New pizzas, new wine, new cocktails, new salads.

❤️ Same vibes, same energy, same team, same satisfaction.

Last night was a busy one, thanks to everyone who came down! It’s so great to see people sitting inside and out. Last year, it was kind of one or the other due to the heat in the restaurant 🥴 We’ve sorted that now with a better extraction hood over the oven and a little air con unit. So this double the seats and doubles the fun (plus we have blankets for outside if we get 4 seasons in one day ☔️ ☀️ 💨 ☁️ ).

We are super excited about this new pizza 🍕🍄‍🟫

Korean-inspired chilli-glazed oyster mushrooms, sesame, pickled spring onions and radish, chilli, mozzarella on an organic tomato base and our heritage grain dough.

Not only does it look as pretty as a picture, the meaty texture of the oyster mushrooms creates a tender and surprising finish. Thanks to our chef, Calina, for bringing this recipe into our lives!

We’ve had it on our menu for 24 hours and it’s already a firm favourite.

We’re gearing up for another menu change later this week.

Due to popular demand one of our most recent pizzas, the MarBuratta, isn’t going anywhere.

A pimped up Margherita, the ultimate in deluxe dining; a whole creamy burrata placed on top of a blend of 3 cheeses and organic tomato passata. Finished with a drizzle of homemade hot honey and some basil 💋

VALENTINE'S DAY IS COMING! The perfect excuse to come over - scoff pizza and smash a few Beetroot Martinis. That's right, for one night only, you can dive into our deliciously pink and punchy Beetroot Martini.

We've shaken beet juice, vodka and vanilla over ice with a foraged and boozy botanical blend of spruce, Douglas fir and anise à la 👌

PS - Since the dawn of time, beets have long been considered an aphrodisiac, and this spans numerous cultures. Ancient Romans went bonkers for beets - believing their juice promoted feelings of amorousness. And, of course, Aphrodite was an avid perpetrator of the good stuff - she devoured it to enhance her charm. We'll leave it there!

East London Liquor Company provide us with our vodka: smooth and creamy, made just down the canal from us, from 100% British wheat.
