Did you know that CST can help tinnitus? Here's a quote from Julian Cowan Hill, published in The Fulcrum in 2020
https://www.craniosacral.co.uk/blog/look-after-yourself-properly-and-your-tinnitus-will-take-care-of-itself/
I believe that CST is particularly good for tinnitus as it works very specifically on the parts of the central nervous system that switches off the stress response. It helps people come out of the freezing response, pass through fight or flight, back towards the ideal and calm state of homeostasis. It is important to note that some people may never have experienced this ideal state of calm and well being and it can come as a real surprise and new experience, as it was for me!
The glymphatic system relies on perivascular spaces (PVS)—channels surrounding blood vessels—to move CSF into brain tissue (parenchyma). Once inside, the CSF mixes with interstitial fluid to sweep away harmful by-products, potentially preventing conditions like Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injuries. This groundbreaking discovery reveals the brain’s natural detox system, essential for preserving mental clarity and long-term health.

A 2024 study "The perivascular space is a conduit for cerebrospinal fluid flow in humans: A proof-of-principle report" supports the presence of the glymphatic pathway in humans, a system where CSF flows throughout the brain to clear waste products. This study offers some of the first visual proof of CSF moving from the outer brain into deeper tissues, demonstrating that the brain uses a built-in "flushing mechanism" to cleanse and revitalize itself.

Recent findings reveal that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flows through brain tissue like an inner river, flushing out toxins and rejuvenating the brain.

Low vagal tone is associated with:
• Low stress tolerance
• Poor emotional regulation
High vagal tone is associated with:
• High stress resilience
• Feelings of connectedness
A healthy vagus nerve can:
• Lower anxiety
• Lower blood pressure
• Increase stress resilience
• Improve digestion and mood
• Increase blood sugar regulation
• Reduce risk of stroke/cardiovascular disease
So, what are the indications of the low vagal tone?
• The inability to be calm
• Short-shallow breaths
• Difficulty swallowing
• Hoarseness of voice
• Poor gag reflex
• Gut issues
• Low HRV
CST is a powerful way to help you maintain a healthy vagal tone. Here's a link to our practitioner directory - https://www.craniosacral.co.uk/practitioner-directory/
Wishing you well!

In simple terms it's a communication line between the gut, the brain, and many of the organs in between.
The function of your vagus nerve is described as "vagal tone".
Well-functioning vagus nerve = high vagal tone.
A simple indication of your vagal tone is your heart rate/breathing. For example:
High vagal tone = lower heart rate, slow breathing, and increased HRV
Via Ben Smith
The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve connecting gut to the brain—branching into every major organ in between.
It organises the parasympathetic nervous system and plays a role in heart rate, immune response, digestion, and overall mood.
CST can reset your nervous system.
Via Ben Smith
Vagus nerve stimulation is the best way to rewire your brain from anxiety, soothe the nervous system, and increase your stress tolerance.
Interview with Danny Sandra of the International Cranio Research Congress
The theme for the third congress in November 2024 is “The Brain and the Second [Gut] Brain”. In today’s digital age, our brains are significantly impacted by technology, such as mobile phones and 5G networks, as well as our nutrition. Navigating these challenges with craniosacral therapy is the primary focus of this congress, bringing together researchers and practitioners in the field.
