'Eyes Didn't Let Me Open' by Tommaso Fattovich, priced £5,400, is available through IdeelArt - check our website ideelart.com to see more contemporary abstract art!
Fattovich calls his style Abstract Punk. His compositions evolve according to a subliminal process in which he responds viscerally to the colors, layers, lines and shapes, coaxing each composition along until it reveals itself to him as being finished.
Fattovich is motivated by a deep inner need to express energy and spontaneity. The imagery in his work is a reflection of what he calls “destroyed surreal environments.”
The rust and rabble of the decaying urban environment, both in his hometown of Milan and his adopted home in Florida, finds its way into his compositions. Fragments of the modern world seem to appear and then disappear in the work.

Deanna Sirlin wants viewers to experience painting in a more personal way. Her work ranges from large-scale, gestural paintings, to small-scale collages, to monumental in situ installations.
Formally, it is colorful, textured and abstract. But it is about more than its observable parts. It is about the invisible as much as the visible.

Opening tomorrow - Kim Uchiyama’s first solo exhibition LOGGIA!
The exhibition will take place at Helm Contemporary, 132 Bowery in New York, and will run from May 30th to June 29th, 2024.
Color acts as light in Uchiyama’s paintings to construct a visceral sense of place, characterized by simple relationships of form such as those found in ancient classical orders. In LOGGIA, the artist invites viewers to explore the intersection of architectural and artistic spaces. Inspired by the loggia—a transitional space between indoor and outdoor environments—Uchiyama's work challenges traditional boundaries and encourages a simultaneous experience of multiple spaces.

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is hosting a remarkable exhibition titled Fragile Beauty: Photographs From the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection. Among the highlights will be three artworks by acclaimed British artist Richard Caldicott, represented by our gallery.
The general opening will be at V&A South Kensington on 18 May 2024.
On this occasion, we are delighted to present 12 exceptional photographs from Caldicott's oeuvre, personally acquired by Sir Elton John over 25 years ago. This carefully curated selection includes several never-before-exhibited pieces, offering a rare glimpse into the artist's creative journey. With most of these photographs having only one or two editions remaining, this is an unparalleled chance to own a piece of art history.
Caldicott's artistic journey began with a focus on drawing and painting, eventually leading him to explore photography in the late 1980s.
Sir Elton John, an avid collector of Caldicott's work and owner of one of the largest photography collections in the world, has praised the artist's ability to elevate photography to an important and recognised form of contemporary expression. "Richard has the unique ability to transform the medium of photography, creating something new, but still using the most traditional technique," he wrote.
With the majority of works being on display for the first time, Fragile Beauty’s unrivaled selection of the world’s leading photographers tells a personal and universal story of modern and contemporary photography.

Opening today! "Dispersed Parallels" (Parallèles Dispersées), a tandem solo exhibition featuring the works of Yari Ostovany (), represented by our gallery, and Ricardo Tarrega-Shayegan (). At the Galerie du Génie de la Bastille ().
The exhibition will be open from May 13th to May 20th, 2024, with an opening reception scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th, from 5 to 8 pm.
This unique exhibition is a testament to the unexpected journey embarked upon by two Iranian cousins, both initially aspiring to be architects. However, the tumultuous events of the Iranian revolution led them on separate paths, ultimately finding themselves on opposite coasts of the United States. It was not until years later that they reunited, discovering their shared passion for painting.
"Dispersed Parallels" provides an insightful glimpse into the distinct perspectives and styles that have evolved through their individual artistic odysseys. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the captivating works of Ostovany and Tarrega-Shayegan while celebrating their artistic journey and shared heritage.

Yari Ostovany's exhibition “Towards the Light | Recent Paintings” opens today! 🟡
The opening will take place today, February 7th at the Radian Gallery in San Francisco. The exhibition will take place from February 7 until March 28.
Yari Ostovany () is an Iranian-born American abstract artist. He creates richly textured, layered color field paintings that explore processes of metamorphosis. He has lived in Tehran, Cologne, Los Angeles, New York and Reno. He now lives and works in San Francisco.
The paintings Ostovany creates unfold over time, evolving as layers of pigment are added, washed out, covered over, scraped away, dissolved and then more layers added. With each new phase in the process the composition becomes deeper and more luminous.
Natural and mystical processes inspire Ostovany. He is attracted to the alchemistical transformation of formal elements like light, color, texture and space into compositions that are more than the sum of their disparate parts. Informed by a variety of different cultures, Ostovany feels a connection to multiple separate and yet complementary mystical traditions.

We are proud to announce that Arvid Boecker's solo exhibition “You Wish” opens tomorrow! 🟡
The opening will take place Saturday 27th at 6 PM CET, at Galerie Grewenig in Heidelberg, Germany.
Arvid Boecker () is a German abstract painter whose work mobilizes the tensions and harmonies that exist between color relationships, textures, and the processes of time.
Boecker begins each new work by penciling in his composition. But the work ultimately is about the colors and layers that will evolve on the surface over time. He builds his paint up in a slow process, adding layers of color then partially removing them, allowing the echoes of erosion to remain visible in the final work. The screen printing squeegees he employs add their unique impressions to the surface, mixing the visual language of painting with that of printing.
Dana Gordon's solo exhibition 'Signs of Life' opens on February 3rd at The Westbeth Gallery in New York! Presenting 27 new paintings from 2023, the exhibition is open until February 24th.
Gordon states: "To paint I get into a frame of mind where I can bring everything to bear, focused on the moment of painting. A given subject is too limiting; painting's potency is comprehensive and open-ended and develops its own subject, if allowed to. Abstract form underlies all visual art; form’s content expresses intellect and feeling. Painting is as alive as ever: after millennia why would our little era not have it, it’s a sign of life. All art is now; in art there are no “other” cultures. My painting does not subvert, it upholds art and reaches for beauty."
In 1974, after making three-dimensional and shaped canvases and other avant-garde experiments for about nine years, Gordon decided to "start over", to find his own language of art. He put a simple white chalk mark on a piece of black paper, and let things develop freely from there. The marks went not only toward strokes and their arrangements, lines, outlines, and abstract or figurish shapes, but inevitably toward proto-languages, too. He retained the use of pure color so essential to abstraction.
Gordon’s recent paintings (and writings) energize a revitalized appreciation of abstraction and its connection with the old and the new.

Opening on 18 May 2024 - Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum, where an extraordinary collection of previously unseen photographs from the private archives of Sir Elton John and David Furnish will be unveiled.
The exhibition proudly features the work of Richard Caldicott, a visionary British photographer.
Since his renowned series featuring Tupperware in 1990, London-based British photographer Richard Caldicott, born in 1962, has persistently pushed the boundaries of photographic representation, embracing fresh aesthetic and symbolic concepts. Using traditional analogue photography techniques, Caldicott infuses his minimalist array of elements with intense, vibrant colours.

Show announcement: Dana Gordon's New Paintings will be on view at The Painting Center in New York from May 23 - June 17.
Featured artwork: 'Election Day' by Dana Gordon, priced £14,100, is available through our gallery - visit our website ideelart.com for more abstract art!
His paintings have an overwhelming presence with their colour and structure, where gestural curves, unconstrained small pattern and form play together.
Gordon is interested in the visual conversation between colours, shapes and lines, looking for the tension between the shape and the grid.
He thinks of the shapes, adjoining shapes, and clusters of shapes as little paintings in themselves, within the larger whole painting.

'Untitled (Id. 1291)' by Fieroza Doorsen, priced £1,250, is available through our gallery - visit ideelart.com and discover more contemporary abstract artworks!
In her abstract drawings, collages and paintings, Fieroza Doorsen brings to life the tensions and harmonies that emerge when structure meets intuition. Her visual language occupies a middle ground between the organic and the geometric, the systematic and the random. The surfaces on which she works, mostly weathered sheets of paper, are tactile and possessive of their own presence. She acts as a medium between her materials and the patterns, systems and shapes they reveal. The resultant compositions feel less like they are supported by surfaces and more like they are inevitable continuations of them.
Though abstract, each composition Doorsen develops possesses a confident sense of its own explanation. The work is determined to meet viewers halfway, bringing with it an intrinsic aesthetic meaning while remaining open to contemplation, forming new meanings out of the spectatorial relationship. While interacting with these works one cannot avoid the feeling of flux, that processes are at work. Patterns may emerge, but conclusions are rarely reached. One is simply left with a sense of the ephemeral ways shapes occupy surfaces, forms occupy space, and color organizes the relationships between the visual elements of the world.
'Straec #4' by Luuk De Haan, priced £2,550, is available through our gallery - visit ideelart.com and discover more abstract art!
A vector is a mathematical quantity that communicates a trajectory toward a point in three-dimensional space. Luuk de Haan works with the idea of vectors in many of his geometric abstract series.
He first begins by choosing a color palette and then uses digital tools like imaging software to create rectangles on a surface. Those rectangles are then used as starting points for the generation of random triangles and other shapes, which evoke the essence of vectors.
De Haan titled one series of his vector-based works "stræc", an Old English term that refers to something that is rigid after being stretched. Not only do these images themselves appear to be stretched, but De Haan also sees this body of work as a theoretical continuation of the geometric abstract work of artists like Kazimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian.

'Grey' by Audrey Stone, priced £1,350, is available through IdeelArt - visit our website ideelart.com to discover more abstract artworks!
Over the course of her career, Stone has worked in multiple mediums, including site-specific installation, painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media.
Many of her works also incorporate a sewn element, adding hand woven lines of thread, string or floss to the surface. The sewn lines take on a sculptural presence.
As images, the works of Audrey Stone confidently express color, pattern and line, while as objects they reveal something far more personal through their presence.

'Gradient #1' by Cristina Ghetti, priced £3,200, is available through our gallery - visit ideelart.com to discover more abstract artworks, or click the link below!
Ghetti (.visualartist) is interested in cross-disciplinary methods and tools. She originates her compositions on the computer, utilizing digital tools to develop images that trick the mind into perceiving things like movement and depth on a two-dimensional, static plane. She then translates her compositions into traditional paintings using acrylic paint on canvas.

“I blur things to make everything equally important and equally unimportant. I blur things so that they do not look artistic or craftsmanlike but technological, smooth and perfect. I blur things to make all the parts a closer fit. Perhaps I also blur out the excess of unimportant information.” ― Gerhard Richter
“I try to apply colours like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.”

Natural and mystical processes inspire Ostovany. Informed by a variety of different cultures, Ostovany feels a connection to multiple separate and yet complementary mystical traditions.
He looks toward elements of Western and Eastern art, literature, spirituality, poetry and music to create an environment and a mindset conducive to his process, which is connected to Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting.
The inspiration for, and meaning of the series Numinous lies in the definition of its title:
NU·MI·NOUS \'n(y)u:-m*-n*s\ aj [From Latin nmen ,nmin-, numen]
Evincing the presence of a deity. Filled with or characterized by a sense of a spiritual presence.

"Vertex" by Jessica Snow is available through our gallery - check the link below to see all the available artworks!
In Vertex, the ground is primarily painted black. When making her work, Snow is concerned with how the eye travels through it, the pathways, enclosures, and openings which activate the space.
In this work on paper, the lines are drawn without a ruler and there’s no taping out, therefore the geometry is a bit wonky and imperfect.

The Pitched Planes series by Stephen Maine are unique relief prints, made primarily using printing surfaces that are the products of industrial manufacture.
This artwork titled "Pitched Planes 137" is available through Ideelart - visit our website!
Each shape (plane) is made with a different surface. They are printed with woodcut and etching ink on 24x19 in / 61x48 cm hosho paper from Japan.
In this series, Maine was thinking about the legibility of the constituent patterns as they are recombined in various layers; the optical blending of hues; and, as always, the illusion of the third dimension.
