The Girl Child Empowerment Conference is an essential gathering where practitioners, young people, and our community unite to address the pressing issue of violence against the girl child. 🚺
The tragic loss of Sarah Everard in 2021 brought the issue of violence against young women and girls into the spotlight, but this problem has affected our communities for much longer.
Hosted by the Music Relief Foundation, a community charity dedicated to supporting young people and their families within grassroots communities, this conference is set to make a difference.
We will discuss not only the issue of violence against young women and girls but also tackle complex topics like criminal exploitation of girls, rising violence among girls, county lines, human trafficking, recruitment for criminal activities, sexual exploitation, and more.
This event is proudly powered by BASNET - The UK BME Antislavery Network, a dedicated network working towards equality, diversity, and inclusion within the Anti-Slavery sector.

'After graduating from Cardiff University with a BA in Music, I joined the Women in Jazz Media and began my journalism journey. Since then I have written for various jazz (and other genre based) magazines, and have collaborated with some incredible people.

With the Cardiff University Jazz Society, I set up the university's first all-female jazz group: 'Womxn's Group'. I also was the society's Musical Director at the North Sea Jazz Festival, leading the big band on the Mississippi Stage.

My work with Women in Jazz Media has helped me understand further what needs to be done to make the jazz genre more egalitarian, something I focus on in my writing. I started working with the Music Relief helping make music more affordable and accessible to the children and families of Croydon. '
