Just to remind anyone planning to buy tickets on the door, that ‘King Lear: Father and Daughters’ has been cancelled. This was due to unexpected circumstances affecting a number of the cast. We are all very disappointed, but look forward to entertaining you with our Spring 2025 shows.
The cancellation of 'Lear and His Daughters was a blow but if you need a 'Shakespeare fix' before the end of the year then Live & Local are offering 'Alas! Poor Yorick' at Quorn Village Hall. Seating is around tables and you can bring your own drinks and snacks so at £12.50 a ticket it's a cheap night out for a professional show. This is billed as a slapstick comedy with some audience participation (optional) so it should be fun. Hope to see you there!
We regret that due to unexpected circumstances we have had to cancel ‘King Lear: Father and Daughters’. Thank you to everyone who supported us and bought tickets. We are so sorry to disappoint you. We will be processing refunds in the next few days.

Alas! Poor Yorick
Sat 26 Oct 7:00PM Quorn Village Hall
Dive into the world of 'Alas! Poor Yorick', a captivating blend of humor, depth and pure theatrical delight! This one-of-a-kind performance offers something for everyone, featuring dynamic portrayals by seasoned theatre legends Jon Haynes and David Woods – the UK’s oldest experimental theatre double act. With a legacy spanning over 32 years, Ridiculusmus delivers a show that is both refreshingly original and irresistibly entertaining.
This unique production takes Shakespeare’s gravediggers from 'Hamlet' and spins them into a whirlwind of slapstick comedy, stirring song and inventive theatre.
But that’s not all – this show is interactive! While participation is entirely optional, you can join in the fun by stepping into cameo roles like a donkey or Polonius, adding an extra layer of excitement to your experience.

NQSC articles in this month's Village Life. (Thank you Kevan!)
Even Shakespeare was a bit a fan of footie...
In King Lear (act 1 scene 4) Lear’s protector, Kent, strikes Regan's servant who is being insolent to the king. The servant says ‘I’ll not be struck, my lord,’ Kent trips him up and says, ‘nor tripped neither, you base football player.’
In The Comedy of Errors when the servant Dromio complains of his treatment by his masters he puts it like this:
‘Am I so round with you as you with me,
That like a football you do spurn me thus?
You spurn me hence, and he will spurn me hither.
If I last in this service, you must case me in leather.’ (Act 2, Scene 1)
