It’s important that no matter how fit or how strong we are, we always seek to improve and push past our previous limits. Never get complacent during your fitness journey, especially if you find something boring then it’s usually due to having the wrong mindset.
When you are challenging yourself and pushing past your limits it's very difficult to find things boring, never go into cruise control and just do the motions, always strive to be better than before and you will find more enjoyment in your training!
The higher the intensity the better the workout?
It’s very easy to fall into the trap of believing that every workout must end with lots of sweat and a high heart rate.
While there are instances where high intensity and moving as fast as possible are good, when it comes to resistance training this often isn’t the case.
Our body is made up of both slow and fast twitch muscles and its important that we train both, to do this often requires that during resistance training we focus on slowing down our movements to what may look like moving in slow motion. The more time the muscle works under tension we are building a greater capacity for strength.
If you spend all your time training with high intensity and low resistance the body does not have the opportunity to develop power, strength and prevention to injury.
If you enjoy your high intensity workouts, Great! Just remember to practice both fast and slow movements so that you can become stronger and fitter all over and not just in one area, take your time and enjoy the process!

Whether you’re an experienced gym goer or have never used a gym before, its important that we always improve and have a clear path to achieve our goals laid before us!
People often put coaching or having a personal trainer into categories:
1. The person being coached is a beginner and needs guidance.
2. The person being coached is an athlete and needs specialised training.
3. The person needs specialised help use to health problems.
When it comes down to it however, everyone who gets coaching or personal training is after one thing and that’s self improvement.
When we train alone it is so easy to make mistakes (Which may lead to injury) or not pick up areas in which we can improve (for example a boxer dropping his guard every time he does X technique).

It is debatable especially when life is busy. But imperfect is usually better than none!!

This is what one of our typical small group PT session looks like. We usually have between one and six people per session to a PT.. Which allows us to give plenty of attention to each client individually and any personalisations that they require.
Again, there’s people that do run small group PT nowadays, however, a lot of people are putting in between 10 and 20 people per group. In my eyes, this is large group, not small. Should be about attention to detail and specific to the clients that are training.

A frequently asked question is Can we help with the nutrition side? The answer is yes we do!
BUT ….
This isn’t the main focus initially. We go into more detail in the video and hopefully this explains why.

MYTH BUSTER: We get asked what age groups we work with a lot. We work with people between 20-70 with the main of the demographic being 40-65. Average age is 46.
Why is this important? Well that’s because we build the training programs to suit that age group. We don’t do lots of jumping, partly because some of the females might not feel comfortable with that and also joints.
We aim to help get the clients moving better to ensure they can be fit and healthy into old age. We DO NOT beast them so they are so sore they can’t walk for a week.

We often do ‘out of gym activities’. Today was our walking 🚶🚶♀️🐕 day. Where dogs, friends and family are all welcome. 🙏
We took a nice stroll from the gym to . And had a coffee and breakfast. Managing to get some steps in, get a bit muddy and have a good natter!!
We are more than you average gym.

All or nothing often ends as nothing
All or nothing is a mindset that for the majority of people will never work, so how do we overcome this issue?
If this sounds like you consider making some negotiable and none negotiable goals, for instance…
Negotiable:
1. To train 3 times a week using weights and doing resistance training for at least 45 minutes�
2. To have 3-5 meals a day and at least two being made from scratch�
3. To do a minimum of 10,000 steps every day.�
Non negotiables:
1. To train 2 times weekly doing weights or resistance training for at least 45 minutes.�
2. To eat at least 3 times a day with one meal being made from scratch�
3. 5 out of the 7 days a week achieve 10,000 steps. �
