Our new Pendulum Squat Machine has been a hit over the weekend and is very humbling while and after using it (in a good way ๐), especially after doing sets of barbell squats! Depending on foot position, it targets glutes, quads, adductors (inner thighs) and calves, and is a great addition to the many items of equipment now at the gym.๐๏ธ
A reminder that the gym cardio and weights areas can be used at any time by group class members other than class times and the gym can also be used without having to join the classes for ยฃ25 per month or ยฃ5 pay as you go/ day pass.

Congratulations and a big well done to Maura Forbes who is the winner of our New Year to Spring/ Easter challenge. Maura has been at the gym for over a year but really upped her game at the beginning of this year focusing not only on the gym but her eating regime and getting her daily steps in along with mountain hikes. Well done to Maura and to Catherine Devlin who did extremely well too preparing for her wedding in July! Thank you to everyone else who took part. Happy Easter to you all!

Shout out to this lady here who started at the gym at the beginning of February, she's not even taking part in our 12 week challenge and yet has lost 13lbs of fat and a substantial amount of inches from her arms, waist and hips in just 7 weeks. ๐๏ธ๐ช๐
Transformation, proper sustainable transformation, takes time, realistically one possibly up to three years of persistent practicing of a healthier lifestyle, no standing on scales every few days disappointed that the weight isn't shifting fast enough and jumping from one thing to another regarding fad diets and workouts.
It's Week 9 of our New Year to Spring/Easter challenge this week, these are the weeks where our gym members are educated on the reality of a fitness lifestyle with no high expectations and continuous frustrations.

This week is the halfway mark of our New Year to Spring 12 week challenge, body composition tests will be taking place all week to see how everyone is doing. This picture is just a reminder and especially for any newcomers the difference between weight loss and fat loss,the latter being the most important to focus on, for example 6lbs (1lb per week) of fat loss over the last 6 weeks is far more beneficial than losing 14lbs + on the scales which is a combination of and mostly water retention, muscle and little fat which always naturally slows down and usually ending with disappointment and giving up hence why the body composition tests take place and not just weigh ins!

January might have seemed like a long, arduous month however it will be the New Year to Spring 12 week challenge halfway mark next week (Monday 12th- Saturday 17th Feb) so time is going by pretty quick! Really looking forward to seeing how the body composition tests go as there has been clear, visible progress made by many at the gym.
