Mr T’s Quiz Night was back on Friday night! 115 quiz goers comprising 22 teams filled out the Juniors hall. History was made as a team of Juniors staff won the quiz for the first time in its 8 year history (In fact, all 3 Juniors teams made the top 10). 🤩
🥇Congratulations go to “Is your name on it?” comprised of Mr Sawle, Mrs Tisshaw, Mr Wilson*, Mrs Dean, Mrs Barry and Miss Gill. (*Mr Wilson was in the winning team back in March so will be going for the treble next year!).
🥈Closely behind in second place was “Rachel Reeve’s Black Hole” and🥉“Pity the fools” came in third. The prize (a multi-pack of Monster Munch roast beef and 6 Palmieri’s coffee vouchers) for the best team name went to another Juniors team, “Do you want an ice-pack?”
The quiz featured a brand new “Play your cards right/Higher or Lower” bonus game this time with a guest appearance by the man himself, Mr Bruce Forsyth. First up to play was none other than Head of the Infants School, Mrs Indge who played without any nerves to win the star prize, the new ‘Uno Extreme’ card game.
We hope to have raised over £1,500 on the night. Thank you to everyone to supported the quiz night, a big thanks to parent Simon Balfe for making the bespoke giant card holder for the bonus game and a huge thanks to the staff at Palmieri’s for providing the lovely food. The quiz will return in March 2025.😍
Next up, it’s the Christmas Fair…..

The FPSA are incredibly sad to hear that Infants caretaker Mr Vogel passed away recently. Mick was a great help to our events especially our fairs, helping us set up, clear away and take photographs. In addition he kindly donated some of his photographic prints and cards to be used for raffle & silent auction prizes. His yearly wildlife calendars raised money for a different charity each year and he chose the FPSA a few years ago.
Mick was a lovely man and will be greatly missed. His family and friends are in our thoughts.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by a family member which raises money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Please donate if you can.

A big shout out to Pippa B from year 6 at Furze Platt Junior School!
Pippa has loved her time at FPJS and as a way of saying thank you, she climbed Mount Snowdon with her Mum in June to raise money towards redeveloping the school’s aging log park including new equipment and resurfacing. What a superstar!
According to her Mum, they had a very wet journey up to (and down from) the summit but made wonderful memories along the way which will last forever. The round journey took them around 5 and a half hours in total. One of Pippa’s favourite part of the hike was warming her hands in the ladies hand dryer!
If you would like to donate to this fundraiser, please follow the link below and remember to gift aid your donation if you can. The money raised will be used for this specific project at the Juniors.

Summer Camp 2024 is done! 🥰
Just under 100 people descended on the Juniors sports field on Saturday for some summer camp fun. One child was overheard saying "I think we've got the biggest tent", another "I'm not going to bed yet" and another "I can't believe I'm watching the Super Mario Bros film at school".
Thank you to everyone who supported this school community event and those who helped out with the BBQ, Bar, Tuck Shop and breakfast café. Special mention to head chef Jamie and to Emma Sweeting for running a popular arts & crafts activity. The camp has raised around £670 for both schools.
Next up - year 2 leavers disco!

In addition, thanks to everyone who visited our 'Sports Day Café' on the Juniors field and bought a hot drink and pastry. ☕🥐
Together, these have raised over £1,100 for both schools. As always, many thanks for your support and we are very grateful to our group of handy helpers who helped out.
⭐️Summer Camp next up! Get your tickets soon, either a camping pitch ticket or for those that want to join in the fun but not stay overnight, a family day pass.😊
Summer Fair 2024 is done! 😍
Thank you to everyone who came to our summer fair on Saturday, we hope you had lots of fun. The Junior School choir were fabulous as were both sets of Street Dance children.
We are very grateful to all of the stall volunteers on the day as well as those lovely people who helped us set up on Friday and Saturday or cleared up at the end. A big thanks to everyone who baked a cake or donated a prize to the tombolas or raffle & silent auction. We also appreciate and acknowledge the help from the staff from both schools.
The giant doggy's name turned out to be 'Eddie' which was won by Libby. Year 3 teacher Mrs Sweatman won the 100 Board by picking Captain Marvel himself, Bryan Robson!
Thank you to the lovely Emma Sweeting for providing the fair poster artwork once again as well as Simon Watson for his help with the fair poster and programme.
Finally, we are very grateful to Oakwood Estates for sponsoring our fair again.

At this year's summer fair, come and have a go on the '100 Board' which could win you £100. 😎
The board, which costs £2 to enter, has a Euros theme this time - will you pick Kane, Bellingham or Rice? Or perhaps a classic like Robson, Shearer or Zidane. The England women feature too, so perhaps Russo, Walsh or Earps will be your pick.
At this year's summer fair, come and have a go on the 'Guess the name of the giant floppy dog' stall. At the end of the fair, we will find out his name and one lucky winner will be giving him a new home! 🐶
At this year's summer fair, come and have a picture with England manger, Gareth Southgate! 😎

The build-up to the summer fair continues with the Oakwood Estates boards going up recently. Thank you to everyone who signed up to have a board, we had 84 in total which is a PB! We are very grateful to Oakwood Estates sponsoring the fair. 😍
At this year's summer fair, come and have a go on the 'Beat the Goalie' stall featuring a couple of goalkeepers that didn't quite make Gareth Southgate's final squad - Mr King & Mr Sawle! They are both doing all 3 hours at the fair!😍⚽️🥅
