Play stats at Spotify are always fascinating, and indeed revealing.
Regarding my recent 'The Ghost Device' release for instance, it comes as no real surprise that the shortest track - track 3 - has garnered most plays. Such is always the case, in my experience. But the most revealing statistic is that it is the longest track - track 2 - which was largely drawn from a cassette recording, that comes second in the popularity stakes, thus trumping the dramatic, though admittedly rather strident and doomy first track by some distance. But will I take heed of such data and tailor future music accordingly? Not a chance. Expression is the overriding reason for my doing this. That and putting it out there on the off chance that it strikes a chord with others. Because then it actually means something far deeper than a superficial popularity. That said, if I were suddenly to become an overnight sensation, I'd gleefully take the money and go hide away in Torquay.🙂

Anyway... that's enough with regard to releases from me for a while. There's been five since January... four of 'em since May. And let's be honest, too many releases over a short period of time, from anyone, can become tedious and overbearing to followers. It also waters down impact because folks get tired of your sound. Like... enough already!😁
There was one guy on here who habitually released, to great fanfare and mass-tagging, a "new" song every sodding Friday... and it quickly wore me down to first ignoring his posts, and shortly thereafter blocking his sorry ass.
So, although I've got plenty of ideas and tracks on the go here, I'll be lying low for a month or two.
In the meantime, stay bright pop pickers!🙂

Out today, and it will not be made available from anywhere else.
It's not much different from the original, just a little shorter and with a touch more presence. But I felt it only fair to give the little chap a long overdue spruce up.🙂

SOON....................................💋
Introducing "Skies of War," a captivating new single that takes the listener on a journey through the fields of endless loss. Atmospheric landscapes and haunting melodies explore the myths of war and the youth it steals. It strides through the eyes of the innocence as it reflects on its own demise. This mesmerizing track combines the sonic nostalgic march towards a mothers loss!!
Truly unique. Truly MUNKIB
The project detailed below has not been forgotten about or permanenty shelved. It will come out when I've found the time and necessary drive to properly master the disparate tracks for it. Thing is, I'm currently far more interested in producing brand new stuff - like the recent 'Blanket White' single - than bringing rediscovered archive curios up to scratch. The purpose of the 'Blanket' release being one of my fulfilling a commitment to put at least something new out this month. The first of hopefully several more to come.
So, personal issues regarding care permitting, I hope to have another brand new something-or-other out for you in the sooner rather than later.🙂

Exile Pots Exile has been creating live keyboard and guitar-based minimalist phrase layering compositions, via looped tape machines, since the early '90s - a system now augmented and largely replaced with delay and loop pedals. Originally part 2 of 'A Dull Day in Aguaparn', from 1996. Again improvised via the two Revox and one reel of tape configuration. Great days and so much fun because I was making these things simply for my own amusement, not for public consumption or a vindicative "popularity". Carefree. Creating for public consumption is both incredibly tedious and stultifying, I find.

Distilled down from over 4 hours of recordings and drum loops intended for an album-length piece. Ridiculous, isn't it? Aye. Pots goes multitrack. Twenty-nine layers of stuff that I just kept shortening, chopping and condensing until this monstrosity was all that remained of any interest. It's all over the place and gnarly and... better go grab the vinegar.

Back in 2011, I'd grown tired of making music, hence the title of the second track here which was recorded around November of that year. The first track, however, was my stab at getting back into playing/recording again and dates from 2014. Both tracks recorded as 'live' in the studio using a variety of feedback loop techniques.
