Changes in oestrogen levels influence tendon health, especially around the menopause. Now there's evidence that HRT may help pain and dysfunction.
Familiar?
If you want an appointment please try to text me for some reason I don’t always get the notifications from social media. My number is (07890) 939282 🐎
Booking now for March and April, depending on your location. 🌷
Just for your information: if you book an appointment I will text to confirm it and the time a couple of days before. If you don't get that text I don't have you in the diary! (probably my mistake!).
I can’t accept group bookings from one person without speaking to every owner.
Please try to contact me by text as it's sometimes difficult to track all social media.
If you need to cancel I ask for a full 24 hours notice, so I can put someone in your slot. I can't do that if there's no time and I will have to make a charge for the cancellation.
If I see your horse regularly, at least every 12 months I will try not to put your charge up. If it goes beyond 12 months, unfortunately the price will inevitably rise.
I hope this makes sense to you all.
Please let me know if you develop any symptoms of Covid.
Please pay by bank transfer on the day or in advance of the appointment.

It’s very common to hear runners being told they must switch from a rearfoot to a forefoot strike when running. They’re told “it’s more efficient”, “it reduces injury risk” or “it’s more natural” (whatever that means!) but this is not supported by the research and there are risks involved…
…Any big change in running gait, such as switching foot strike, is likely to increase the load on tissues that aren’t used to it. With moving from rearfoot to forefoot strike this is likely to be the calf and Achilles. In forefoot running Achilles load increases by around 15% which is the equivalent to 48 times body weight per mile (Almonroeder et al. 2013)! It’s no surprise then that I see many runners with Achilles or calf pain as a result of switching foot strike.
One argument for switching to forefoot is that it can reduce stress on the knee. There is evidence to support this but increasing step rate by 5 to 10% can also achieve this without a large increase in calf/ Achilles load.
As ever when treating runners we need to be careful to avoid one size fits all recommendations and reason through the risks and benefits for the individuals in our care.
Running is not bad for your back! In fact there’s evidence it may strengthen the intervertebral discs (see Belavy et al. 2017). So we can reassure runners with back pain that returning to their sport isn’t harmful but we do want to find a manageable level for them to gradually progress from.
We can find this by starting running at a level where any pain is mild and settles quickly after a run (i.e. the same day). It also shouldn’t lead to increases in neural symptoms such as leg pain, pins and needles or numbness.
In severe or irritable cases it’s best to settle symptoms first, especially if they’re aggravated by standing, walking or impact. As a therapist we need to use our judgement and work with the patient to determine when they may be ready to run.
Stay positive for runners in your care, we’ve seen people recover from severe pain back to successfully return to marathons and ultra-marathons! 🏃♀️

Anatomy of the hand and wrist! 🙂👍Great post by : "Nice Overview of the Wrist Joint
👇👇👇
The wrist joint is a diarthrodial joint and is built up of eight unique carpal bones. They are interposed between the forearm (radius and ulna) and the five metacarpal bones.
The wrist is composed of two rows of carpal bones: the proximal carpal row (PCR) includes from radial to ulnar the scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum, and pisiform; the distal carpal row (DCR) includes from radial to ulnar the trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, and hamate.
Figure: Bones of the wrist from dorsal. The orange-colored bones are the DCR, the red colored bones belong to the PCR. The pisiform (P) is just indicated because it is positioned on the palmar side.

No, ribs don’t go out of place, vertebrae neither and discs cannot slip!
Let’s all use better terminology to explain spinal pain.
Less threatening information, less nocebic terms.
The body is strong and robust.
The rib cage and spine protect important tissues: the heart, the lungs and the spinal cord... it’s made to be strong. 😊💪💪
Great post by in collab with ! 😊👍
“PSA: Barring any traumatic injuries, ribs do not go out of place and manual therapy cannot put it back in it's place.
It's insane to hear people make claims of diagnosing rib subluxations without imaging using their palpation and the use of manual therapy to pop it back into place.
There are studies that shown imaging of people after traumatic accidents in the thoracic region showing things like pneumothorax, hemothorax, rib fractures, sternal fractures and SC dislocations. The prevalence of rib subluxation…none. You can literally have a fractured rib but the joint capsule will still be intact.
This is not to say that these rib 'mobilizations' techniques do not have any use! When we think about the underlying mechanism of why someone has unilateral thoracic pain, we have to consider it could be protective muscle tone stemming from local musculature. This increase in tone could potentially be the cause of the 'bump' that is being palpated and manual therapy/touch does a great job of decreasing tone.
So, why does this matter if the techniques still work to decrease symptoms? It's creates a fragile mindset, a false narrative, it creates dependency and it de-values our profession from a scientific standpoint. I am writing this because a student was told their ribs subluxed while having bad posture performing a back squat. That…is why.
