The Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH) has helped Starley Housing Co-op in Coventry secure a retrofit grant worth £40,000 from the Midlands Net Zero Hub Community Energy Fund. CCH says the success “unlocks the next steps of a co-operative-wide feasibility study”.

Co-op movement responds to wave of riots across UK 09/08/2024

The UK movement has reasserted its values after a wave of far-right and violence across the UK. Sector organisations Co-operatives UK and Co-op Foundation condemned the attacks, as did smaller co-ops like October Books. Rochdale Boroughwide Housing pledged to support vulnerable tenants and stated a zero tolerance policy on racism.

Meanwhile retail co-ops the Co-op Group, Southern Co-op and Central Co-op Food told the News of their efforts to support colleagues in affected areas. “Co-op has stated that it is an anti-racist and inclusive organisation, and we mean it,” said the Group.
