Derwent Bowmen Archery Club
This is the public page for Derwent Bowmen Archery Club, an Archery Club in Darley Bridge, Derbyshire
This is the public page for DBAC, where fellow sportsmen, members of the public, other sports organisations, local companies and groups, press contacts and of course potential new members can find out more about the club and what we do.
Saturday saw the club host it's first independent record status shoot since 2018; a UK Record Status Worcester.
We welcomed archers from Leicester to Cheshire and everywhere in between to our clubhouse for a fun day of archery.
Pleased to say we saw plenty of club, county, regional and 3 national records set on the day.
A massive thanks to the members that helped with the setup the night before, running of the tournament throughout the day, to our judges Bernie & Janet and to the archers that came along for a shoot.
And a massive thank you to Merlin Archery for sponsoring the event!
We're looking forward to welcoming archers tomorrow for our UKRS Worcester event!

Another year another successful mid-summer madness shoot. As ever thank you to everyone that took part and to those that organised. Lots of fun had by all (except new addition "Snuffles" the 3D Pig).

See you all in 4 months for the club's Halloween shoot!
Did you spot Derwent's mention in the latest Archery GB e-zine?
Always great to see the club mentioned for its hard work.

Typical British Summer!
A quick time lapse of Saturday's rain coming in. The clouds look rather soothing.
Saturday saw a great turn out as our
archers attempted the annual non-sighted bow champs.
Unfortunately due to torrential rains and thunderstorms
the shoot was called off before the 3rd dozen.
However archers still had fun indoors having a go on
the club's new horsebow with many members
remarking on it's lack of weight, ease of use and being
good fun to shoot.
Last Sunday saw the latest round of
the Derbyshire County Archery Association summer league. We hosted
Burton Bridge Archers & Mercia Archers an excellent
turn out from all teams and a good fun shoot.
Our next shoot is Sunday 14th July hosting St. Sebastian Archers .
Sunday saw the first round of the Derbyshire County Archery Association Summer League as we hosted the lovely Pastures Company of Archers.
Next up on the 9th June is Burton Bridge Archers and Mercia Archers at Derwent.
Last Saturday (bit of a delayed post!) saw the Club WA720 / 122 shoot. It was a great way for archers to get some practice in ready for the outdoor season. Great attendance from the club and the first time we've ran 2 details in a very long time.

The clout archers were lovely and welcoming as ever. For more information on clout archery speak to our good friends The Clout Collective
Saturday saw the club's annual St George shoot. A good mix of members old and new turned up on the day. In what was finally a nice break in the downpours and strong winds we've had for what feels like all of 2024 so far. A mix of the St George, Albion, Windsors rounds shot.
It was also a record setting day with 7 club records set and 6 county records, one set by Nick who only joined the club on Monday and a special mention to Simon for getting a qualifying score for his 100 yard 252 on barebow.
A sad day for Derbyshire Archery please see announcement below:

Breaking your first arrow is a right of passage in archery, however congratulations to our member Michael for this spectacular first.

The winter series concluded on Saturday finishing on a Vegas round. For most archers this was their first time shooting a Vegas and a multi-spot target face. Both the juniors and senior sessions went down really well with everyone having a blast. But now it’s time to progress back to outdoor shooting.
Also special mention to Sarah for shooting the 3 spot Vegas with a longbow.
We’re investing in our clubhouse; as some of you have seen at the Derbyshire County Archery Association Indoor Champs we’ve upgraded the lighting meaning we now have more efficient lighting on the range and the shooting line (rest to be upgraded over the outdoor season) We save on our energy bills and our members get a brighter range.
And we're getting ready for day 2 of the Indoor Champs. As ever you can keep an eye on the events and see how yesterday's archers got on at: https://www.ianseo.net/Details.php?toid=16941
The outdoor range is looking great right now. A massive thank you to those who keep it looking (and working) so great! 🥳
A very well done to Lewis and Sandrine for their silver medals! 🏹🥳
We want to say a huge "Thank you!" to Matlock Print, a fantastic local business who have kindly supported the club and shared their expertise many times.
Do check them out!
Keep an eye out for our archers today...
