Good afternoon.
We've just received this sad news from Sonia......
Hi all. Just wanted to say that my amazing big brother John, who comes with me to the BBC has recently been diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer.
To help raise funds for the continuing research of Prostrate Cancer UK I have taken up the challenge of cycling 100 miles in August.
https://cyclethemonth.prostatecanceruk.org/fundraising/sonyas-100-mile-cycle-ride-for-prostrate-canc?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR25O7hV0BJ0GJw0D2_WOmgMXUTKOm9DeqJcDrbGEX3fY_5jvsHYE1tfSbg_aem_9HQ7nf5uVaLx2cdawHnCNw
It would be amazing and mean a lot to me if you could donate even the smallest amount to this worthwhile charity. I will follow this post with the Just Giving link.
❤️Thanking you in advance. Sonya # # # ❤️

Car Parking Issues Update 28 June 2024
I have been informed that all tickets issued in error have now been cancelled by Monster Baywatch
As their admin can be rather "patchy" please send any further correspondence from them to me so we can deal with it for you
Cheers
Mark
Parking penalty notices update
We have been it contact with Monster Baywatch and they have admitted to an error on their part. They are supposed to be cancelling all those issued in error, and checking for any others.
Please do not pay them
Please contact me immediately if you receive any more nonsense from them
They probably won't issue an apology
Good evening all.
Parking tickets update
We now know of 3 wrongly issued parking notices
Jonathan, Badger, and Stuart
Please either bring the notice in tomorrow night or send me a photo of it so we can get it quashed
Photo must include your vehicle reg and the time and date and the number of the notice
The BCC Bar and Restaurant apologise for this inconvenience. Unfortunately the parking company, Monster Baywatch, have turned out to be a bunch of cowboys. BCC have had nothing but trouble with them. Useless
Thank you
Mark

Doors at 18:30 and then the Jam starts soon after at 19:30 pm.
We do not have a 'house band' but some Blues Club Regulars will get us going.
Amplifiers and backline will be provided, just bring your sticks, guitars basses, mics or whatever. One of our regulars often brings his keyboard.
Although we will be using songs as a base for each jam, there will be plenty opportunity for musicians to improvise. We should be finished around 10pm.
The first 30 mins will be for beginners to get up and have a go, and build up confidence. We will help and encourage you to take those first steps, before too many folk come in. Timings will be from 19:30 to 20:00. Just turn up between 19:00 and 19:30 and we shall endeavour to assist you
Parking is now charged until 18:00, after which its free
Please do not arrive prior to 18:00

Learn Delta Blues now!
This weeks YouTube is a lesson looking firstly at a ‘one chord’ blues and secondly ‘Death Letter Blues’ by Son House.
Both songs have typical ‘delta blues’ stylings and will give players a small amount of vocabulary to build on or learn other songs by Robert Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Son House, RL Burnside and the rest!
Hopefully this video opens up some players to that more hard driving and ballsy style of playing associated with that region in the 1920s to well… now TBH!!

JJ Cale: “We were just trying to play the blues and didn’t know how, so that’s what we came up with.” Just as the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds were trying to copy American blues records and got it just wrong enough to come up with something new, so did these kids raised amid the empty ranch lands and oil wells of Oklahoma. But instead of filtering the blues through skiffle and music-hall songs, as the Brits did, these cowboys filtered it through country music and gospel—and that made all the difference.
I could never get the playing of whoever I was listening to exactly right. I would miss a few notes here and there or get a chord wrong. Through that, my playing ended up sounding a bit different from the person I was imitating. As the years went by, I deliberately kept letting that happen. That’s where a person’s style comes from. If you play exactly like someone else, you don’t come up with anything original. In a sense you could say my guitar playing is full of mistakes that came from trying to imitate others.
