Wendy Witch
Narrowboat Tarot Readings, Handfastings, Pagan Weddings, Baby Naming Ceremonies. Hello. I'm Wendy. I'm a White Witch and Celebrant. I have been pagan all my life.
My beliefs and skills have been passed down through generations and I'm proud of my heritage. I live aboard Narrowboat Merly B with my husband and a mad dog. We chug up and down the Grand Union Canal conducting Pagan Ceremonies, creating Magic Spells and giving Tarot readings. I enjoy reading, gardening (on the roof), and walking the countryside towpaths.

β€οΈ Cleansing and Blessing Your Home β€οΈ
Lots of you have been asking about spells for your home, so here's a simple ritual for protection and to remove negativity. You can do this alone or get the rest of the family to help. Have fun and turn it into a party if you wish!
You will need;
A broom.
A candle, any colour you wish.
A bell, a really loud one!
Incense, sage is traditional but use whatever scent you like.
Salt.
A glass or goblet of water.
Bread.
First of all sweep your home beginning as far away from the front door as you can. Work clockwise as much as possible sweeping every room until you get to the front door. You are not sweeping just to get rid of dust, but also to sweep negativity from your home. Push the negativity out of the front door, turn your back and close the door.
Arrange the items in a circle on a table or on the floor in the middle of your home. This will be your altar. Light the incense and the candle. Sprinkle some salt into the glass of water.
Walk around your home, again go clockwise where possible and sprinkle the water into all the corners while saying over and over again,
'With this salt of the Earth and water of the rains I purify this place of all but the most pure and beneficial energies.'
Return to the altar, set down the water and pick up the candle. Again, move clockwise around the home and carefully move the candle flame into all the dark corners while saying over and over again,
'With this light I bring truth and wisdom to this place.'
Repeat with the bell, ringing it everywhere while saying,
'With this bell I call forth love and joy, within this place all are bright and happy.'
Repeat with the bread, placing a piece on windowsills, bookshelves etc. while saying,
'In this place there is abundance and prosperity.' If possible leave the bread there for 24 hours. Not always possible if you have a dog!
Repeat with the incense, swirling the smoke into all the corners while saying,
'With this sweet perfume I bring peace and harmony, all words and deeds in this place are sweet and harmonious.'
Let the candle and incense burn out naturally.

π Thistle Magic Spell For Protection π
Thistles are used for purification, protection against negativity and evil, and for breaking hexes.
Light a purple candle and frankincense (if you don't have frankincense use another incense such as rose or sandalwood.)
Move the thistle flowers and leaves around the candle 3 times, imaging the prickles warding off any bad energy around you.
Pass the thistle through the incense smoke.
Pop the thistle into a purple cloth or bag and carry it with you for protection from negativity. The spell is done.
πππ More Thistle Magic πππ
A shirt with thistle fibres sewn in will protect the wearer from any evil spell.
Place a bowl of thistle in a room to energise, uplift and revitalise the occupants.
Throwing thistles into a fire will deflect lightning away from your home.
A method of calling spirits is to boil some thistle. After removing it from the heat, sit next to the bowl and begin meditating. As the steam rises, your questions and their answers will be heard.
Grown in a garden it wards off thieves. Grow it in a pot by your doorstep.
A Herd of Fairies
The collective noun for fairy is herd. Weird.
There are several herds floating about today.
They are the seeds from the thistle, thistledown. Soon the sky will be full of them. Catch them gently, make a wish and let them go again.
I love thistles, they are so easily overlooked as nasty and prickly, but I love their colour and structure........and it's where the fairies come from.
οΈ οΈππ A New Moon Wishing Spell ππ
One of my favourite spells...
Today's New Moon (12.13 in London) is the perfect time for new beginnings and setting your dreams into motion. It is a time of renewal, change and growth. A time to set intentions and goals.........here's how.
Take some quiet time for yourself, light some candles, open a window or sit outside.
Listen to your breath and the sounds around you. Feel the thoughts of your day begin to fade away and a calmness enter your mind.
Now make your wishes. Dream big! Describe in detail to yourself what you would like to bring in to your life.
During the next two weeks, as the new moon grows, allow your dreams and intentions to continue to flourish by starting to put them into action. Do what you can at every opportunity and everything will follow.
Blessings, Wendy xx

πβ€οΈπ§‘ Handfasting & Vow Renewals π§‘β€οΈπ
~~ππ Frequently Asked Questions ππ~~
What is it?
A Handfasting is a Pagan wedding during which the couple are literally bound together with a Handfasting cord - tying the knot. The ceremony itself is based on ancient pagan beliefs and because there are no hard and fast rules, you can customise your ceremony to suit you. Handfasting is for everyone. No one is excluded.
I'm already married, can I be Handfasted?
Yes, single, married, divorced, separated, 'it's complicated', whatever your marital status, you can have a Handfasting Ceremony. If you're already married, Handfasting is a wonderful way to Renew Your Vows.
Is it legal?
In England and Wales Handfasting is not legally binding. However, this is not important to most couples. It's recognised by the pagan community as spiritually binding and therefore transcends the law of the land. Some couples choose to have two ceremonies, (a traditional religious ceremony or a register office ceremony), and a Handfasting too.
What shall I wear?
Whatever you like. Some Handfastings have themes, medieval, hippy, gothic... You may prefer a formal occasion or a more relaxed vibe.
Can we be Handfasted anywhere?
Yes, wherever you wish. I have conducted Handfastings in forests, on beaches, at ruined churches, in gardens, village halls, riverside meadows, crop circles, even underground - places that have a special significance for the bride and groom.
What if I'm not a Pagan?
It doesn't matter. Everyone is welcome. No matter what creed, religious belief, sexual orientation, marital status.
All you need is to be in love.

Candle Sleep Spell
Take a white candle and light it in silence
Walk widdershins (anticlockwise) around your bedroom three times. If you have a tiny bedroom like me just turn on the spot. As you do this, project simple protective phrases into the walls, floors, and windows such as, 'keep me safe' or 'comfort me'.
Next, walk sunwise (clockwise) three times in silence, meditating on positive, restful phrases.
Finally, blow out the candle, whisper the word 'sleep' and turn in for the night.
This spell does not need to be repeated to continue working. Instead, simply light the candle for a few minutes each night, then whisper 'sleep' again before getting into bed.
When the candle is completely spent, repeat the original spell with a new white candle.
Good night. Sweet dreams xx
π€π§‘β€οΈπ Ask The Witch Tarot πβ€οΈπ§‘π€
It has been a lovely busy and sunny day Tarot reading in the shade of the ash tree. This deck was popular today, the Ask The Witch Tarot.
The witches in this deck are wild old ladies, some mythological, some real. These are ancient fairies, decadent goddesses, nocturnal creatures and ladies of chaos who come from various traditions to answer our questions.
β€οΈ Joan of Arc is our Strength card, a charismatic, warrior, a saintly heretic armed only with a sword and her faith.
π Justice is represented by Sedna, Goddess of the Sea, an orphan whose fingers were severed when she tried to board a boat carrying people fleeing from famine.
𧑠The Fool is Crazy Jane the neighbour of poet and magician William Butler Yeats. She was daring, infantile, promiscuous and a bit mad, representing the infinite and free potential in all of us.
π€ They all have their tales to tell, their wisdom to impart and their magic to cast.

Good night. May you sleep well after the harvest.
Fields of gold,
waves of grain,
the summer comes to a close.
The harvest is ready,
ripe for threshing,
as the sun fades into autumn.
Flour will be milled,
bread will be baked,
and we shall eat for another winter.
Blessed be. xx

Lammas Blessings Everyone! I hope you have a magical day xx
Thank you so much for all your heartfelt messages, we're really feeling the love here today.
Good night. Wishing you sweet dreams on this Lammas Eve xx
'Hoof and horn, Hoof and horn,
All that dies shall be reborn,
Corn and grain, corn and grain,
All that falls shall rise again.'
'Tis Lammas Eve...
From the fields and through the stones,
Into fire, Lammas Bread,
As the Wheel turns may all be fed
And may the Goddess bless.

Happy Anniversary to us! Mr O and I were Handfasted 24 years ago. Next year, massive party!
"By seed and root, by bud and stem, by leaf and flower and fruit, by life and love, in the name of the Goddess, I take thee to my hand, my heart and my spirit at the setting of the sun and the rising of the stars.
Nor shall death part us, for in the fullness of time we shall be born again, and we shall meet and know, and remember and love again. Blessed be."
Good night. Sweet dreams xx

Soggy Tarot Cards & Laughing Ducks.
I had the 'bright' idea of putting Tarot reading table next to the boat today. It tipped up by some invisible force (a devious duck I reckon) and a whole deck fell in that gap between the edge and my boat.
I said a few colourful words before fishing them out. I managed to save 6 which are now drying out on the roof, goodness only knows what they're trying to tell me. I then moved the table back to its original and more sensible spot under the tree.
There are loads of ducks on the opposite bank. You know when ducks quacking sounds like laughter? Yeah, that. I have visions of them fishing them out and giving each other readings.
3 Simple Magic Spells for Lammas.
πΎ Bread Protection Spell
A book of Anglo-Saxon charms advised the crumbling of the Lammas loaf into four pieces and the burying of them in the four corners of the barn to make it safe for all the grain that would be stored there. You can use this old spell in a protection spell for your home.
Bake a Lammas loaf, and when it is cool break it into four pieces don't cut it with a knife and take one to each corner of your property with the words:
"I call on the spirits of north, and south, east and west
Protect this place, Now, at the time of the Blessing."
Leave the bread for the birds to eat or bury the pieces.
πΎ Harvest Spell
Set an orange candle on either side of the cauldron. On a piece of small paper write the things you have harvested over the past year, light the paper from one of the candles and let it burn in the cauldron. After it is done put some corn or squash seeds in the cauldron. Stir the seeds with your wand visualizing white light coming from the tip of the wand, filling the cauldron and entering the seeds. When you feel the seeds have absorbed all the energy, put the seeds into another container to be kept on the altar until next year's planting.
πΎ Lammas Bounty Spell
Gather a small bundle of long grass or reeds to braid, and light a white candle. Braid the grass as you speak this verse:
"Fairies prancing in the meadow, Spirits in the corn;
Green Man is flourishing everywhere On this Midsummer morn.
Grains begin to ripen, All things bear fruit.
Summer glistens with possibility, Blossoms take root.
Fairies whisper secrets, Powerful blessings to see.
Cycles move and all around, they share their gifts with me.
Air to fire, Fire to water, Water to earth, Earth to air.
Elements feed spirit, And the circle glows.
At Lammas, day and night, We witness Nature's awesome might.
Growing full And blessing all,
'Tis Earth's celebration Before the chill of fall.
Now braiding this grass, I mark this day
Protect my hearth, With the abundance of grain.
The blessings of the Goddess come again;
Place the braid above my door. Hunger be banished now and then.
Blessings be drawn to this place, Summer's energy fill this space.
Air, fire, water, earth unite, And bless us all this day."
Place the braid by your door.
