We have been working on plenty of new projects but this one is the first to make it through testing and into a final design. I know you are thinking, isn't that another cup holder? And well yes it is but that was just a happy accident. The door cards on the T5 have plenty of space for storage but smaller items like tools or sunglasses tend to rattle around and get lost. This insert slips into the pocket and provides a handy space for storage and also just so happens to double as a cup holder 😎
Not one of our designs but these brackets look fantastic paired with some Australian black wood for this shelf project. The strength of a properly oriented print is really impressive and shows the versatility of 3D printed components. .

Lots of new colours Of T5 cup holders ready to go, as always printed in ABS to survive the summer heat 😎
3030 Aluminum extrusion can used for a huge variety of projects like our current T5 camper bed build. We have designed a couple of simple tools that allow connection without right angle brackets and saves a massive amount of build time.
We have a video up that gives a full explanation of how these tools work-

And they can be purchased in our eBay shop-

Very simple adapter to update a T5 dash board made up to replace a not so well fitting offering, hopefully this one will last a little longer!
Need some hidden panel clips for the T5 build? 5 mins in CAD and 15 to print and the rear doors look much better 😎
A couple of connectors quickly designed and made today to keep a bigger project using 3030 aluminium extrusion moving.
As always, uploaded for fellow builders to utilise.

Our friends over needed an adapter to allow a palm router to use a guide bush, it would have been rude not to knock up a couple of stencils and a holder to go with it
Van floors aren't always cut out with great accuracy so we ended up tidying up the T5 with some flexible TPU rings around the tie down points. The flexible filament can be easily trimmed to fit around furniture and a couple of options for different positions in the van wee created.
As usual these designs are available for download-

Along with regular maintenance we completed a couple of upgrades to one of the printers today. The location of the spool holder on this one can affect the print quality but someone on one of the owners groups had a great idea of mounting it to the enclosure. The original design didn't position the spool in quite the right place so we made a few updates, created a bracket for the filament run out sensor and modified the existing metal bracket with an extra hole, this set up should be strong and durable and increase the quality of our parts.
Parts are free to download -

Quick job on a Saturday evening after refitting the retrimmed roof on the T5 and finding the original trim clips are now too short. 10 minutes in CAD and some ABS filament and we are back on track. Now available for anyone with a 3d printer to download.

The standard rear panels VW supply in the back of the T5 stop short of the bottom of the internal bodywork, leaving a hole into the cavity. Most people replace this whole panel but another option is to utilize a filler panel that clips into the body work so we designed one and anyone with a 3D printer can download the file and print one themselves.

eufy has designed a great camera with an inbuilt solar panel, only one catch is you can't actually use it with the supplied extension cable so you are limited to where you can place the camera. It seems eufy customer service knows about the issue and offers no solution so a couple of brackets designed to allow the panel to be moved in a slightly better positionmight help some people.
The design can be found for free and manufactured at home for anyone with access to a 3d printer.

A productive evening with a few more prototypes on the printer ready for testing in the morning 🛠️⚙️🔩
An afternoon of material testing has resulted in this small fleet! The 'benchy' is actually a fantastic model to diagnose issues in print set ups
The arc welder had to be dragged out from the back of the workshop for some weld repairs on the Southbend lathe project. Welding cast iron is always tricky but with small parts like this it is a real challenge!
This old Southbend 10" lathe was looking pretty sorry for itself when we picked it up. Under all that rust and grime hides an extremely capable machine tool and over the next few months we hope to restore it back to its former glory and see it making chips once more.
Volkswagen engineers have done some fantastic things over the years but the cup holder on the T5 vans must have been a Friday afternoon job. Prone to failure and barely functional to begin with, these don't live up to the standard we expect from VW. This may seem like a minor issue until you get hot coffee all over your lap or a can rolls underneath the brake pedal. To remedy this we have designed a cupholder that fits directly in the existing T5 dash.and requires no modification or extra fasteners. These don't rattle , are secure even under heavy cornering and fit a variety of containers. These are made from strong and durable ABS and available in a variety of colours to match your van.

Custom fasteners are some times a nessesary evil but when you can't find replacement parts they can cause a real headache. This was a very quick project modelled up in CAD in about 10 minutes then printed in PLA but utilised a heat set threaded insert to provide the stregth and durability.
