Could someone you care for be missing out on Pension Credit?
As part of Northumbria Healthcare’s commitment to reducing health inequalities we want to make sure we’re helping people get the support they need when it comes to Pension Credit. It’s thought up to 880 thousand households are missing out on it.
Pension Credit tops up pension income and can help with day-to-day living costs. If someone you care for is State Pension age (66 and over) they may be able to claim Pension Credit, even if they have their own home or savings. They may also be able to get the Winter Fuel Payment and help with rent or NHS services. A nudge can be all it takes to help start a conversation that could make a real difference to a person’s life.

There are some changes being made to the service delivered by the One to One Centre at Hexham General Hospital.
From Wednesday 6 November, the sexual health service will relocate from the Day Surgery Unit at Hexham General Hospital to Ward 3, on the first floor. This is because the Day Surgery Unit is being refurbished.
From this date (Wednesday 6 November) the service will be provided on a Wednesday rather than a Friday and will operate between the updated times of 9:15am and 4:30pm.
Patients can access the service by the same telephone number – 0344 728 0554.
Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate! 🕯
We wish you and your families a safe, happy and blessed Diwali 💙
Getting your child vaccinated against flu this winter could stop them getting really poorly – AND stop flu spreading to family or friends.
There's no needle – just a sq**rt up the nose. Millions of children get it every year – so it's safe too.

We would like to give an update in relation to the delay of lifting two PODs at our new Berwick hospital site yesterday. This was due to ground conditions in part of the site, which meant it would be unsafe to perform the POD lifts. Safety is always a priority for both the Trust and for our construction partner, Merit.
We are pleased to update that these PODs are being delivered to/lifted onto to site this afternoon and that the remaining seven PODs will be delivered over the course of this week. To ensure safety, we have had to close the walkway from the front of the Infirmary to Brucegate. We are hoping this will be opened by the weekend. We thank local residents and stakeholders for their patience while some roads in Berwick were closed yesterday and while work to build our new hospital continues.
Due to staffing issues, our minor injuries unit at Alnwick Infirmary will be closed on Wednesday, 30 October.
It will also close early at 2pm on Thursday, 31 October, and 5pm on Sunday, 3 November.
On all occasions, it will reopen the following day as usual at 7.45am.
We apologise for any inconvenience. Please use NHS 111 to find the right place for your care needs.
Episode 4 of our clinical strategy podcast is now live, focussing on our new streaming service at The Northumbria hospital in Cramlington.
The implementation of the new streaming service is designed to streamline and improve patient care from the moment of arrival.
Charlotte, Julian and Jo also explore how this model is part of a broader strategy named Lifelong Care, aimed at ensuring continuity of care throughout patients’ lives, with a particular focus on enhancing emergency care pathways.

We're delighted to say that we have received not one, but two silver accreditations for sustainability work around the trust and within our emergency department.
The Investors in the Environment is a prestigious recognition awarded to organisations demonstrating exceptional commitment to improving their sustainability efforts and show evidence of plans to continue this work.
Additionally, our emergency department was awarded with the GreenED accreditation by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine for demonstrating its ability to make positive and sustainable changes in a resource-heavy emergency department.
These are incredible achievements that reflect the teams' commitment to reaching the target of Net Zero Northumbria by 2040. Well done all 👏
