Well that's a wrap for Paris 2024 Olympics and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it! Many highs and lows, amazing moments, records and outstanding achievements!! Personal highlights for me were obviously Keely, but then Tom Pidcock in the mountain biking and Alex Yee in the triathlon.

On the design and branding front it was an absolutely mammoth task but Paris 2024 nailed it. A very Art Deco inspired visual graphic system consistently used throughout the games, venues and streets made for a very visually pleasing experience!

Adversity…
Newport Marathon didn’t quite go to plan but 18-19miles went pretty good, I just had to grind out a finish…
Life may throw challenges and obstacles our way, but it’s not about how we fall, it’s about how we rise up and choose to finish strong. We are all capable of overcoming adversity, pushing through the tough times, and emerging stronger than before. Keep moving forward, keep believing in yourself, and never give up on your journey towards success.

I saw lots of people doing their kit lay for London last weekend and I've got a bit excited for Newport Marathon this weekend and done mine a bit early....

Who am I to argue with…

So the other week I received a message enquiring about logo design… “why yes that’s exactly what I do, how can I help you?” I replied. So we chatted and I sent over my rates and costs… “oh that’s a bit expensive” was the reply. “Sorry that’s what I charge currently” I said.

Against my better judgement I decided to be flexible and help out a bit as it was a start up and I quite liked the idea. And although I was losing out a bit I felt good to be doing my bit…
We discussed a timeframe and I did some designs and sent them over as discussed!

“Oh sorry I meant to message, I got a mate to do it as he’s a bit handy at that kind of thing” “thanks though”

To say I was annoyed was an understatement. I decided not to reply and not to charge for my time and I won’t name names or reveal who it was. Although I really lost out and I used time I could have spent with other clients I won’t change my policy of charging on completion. As this is a very very isolated case and my faith in all you good good people out there is unwavering!!

Although if it happens again, who knows 🤣🤣

Back to things today after a long Easter break!

This was my second break away in short succession which is very rare for me, but much needed time with the family!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all my clients, new and long standing, for your patience. I work with the best people and everyone has been so understanding...

I’ve never been the best photographer and only use my iPhone anyway… but I caught this beautiful scene today on my early run!!
Who knows when creativity strikes, sometimes it’s really hard work but sometimes, like today, it’s easy, accidental and lucky. I love it when that happens!

Family and focus…

Although work is important to me I will always prioritise the family first. I love what I do and always have done since I was a teen, I was always drawing and designing things. Plus I actually think that now after all these years I might be good at it too… I’ve had over 30 years of practice now!

But I never forget the main why, my focus is to provide a good life and a bright future for the girls in my life. The flexibility of being a freelance designer allows me to walk my daughter to and from school, and spend lots of quality time with her! I honestly wouldn’t change it for anything now.

Consistency…

So last April I was in bits physically, i had pulled out of Newport marathon and was injured going into London marathon, decided to do it anyway, pulled my calf in the first mile, hobbled around, slow and in a mess… honestly it was a sh*tshow!!

Fast forward 10 months and there’s a world of difference. I decided to bring a bit of consistency to my training along with some core and strength and more xtraining! I’m running a lot less miles but a lot fitter and faster and more importantly injury and pain free. So I keep getting up at 5am out the door 5:30-6am everyday and keep showing up!!

I’ve always applied this to my work and business and always show up and always work hard!! But not necessarily had consistency on here and social media, so going forward im going to try to post at least once a week on a Monday afternoon… I’m sure there’ll be some amazing nuggets of information I can impart on you all, or tell a story or two, or at least share some recent work…
