IMPORTANT NOTICE: Carrick Cottage will not be operating as a cafe for the rest of this year.

We will remain as a self catering cottage and it will only be accessible for guests of the cottage.

We would also like to remind people that the car park and toilet are strictly for guests using the cottage as accommodation.

Carrick Cottage Cafe is now available to rent as a one bedroom holiday cottage. Situated in a stunning location at the foothill of the Mourne Mountains, just off the Carrick Little Lane, it is an ideal location to relax in the Mournes and explore all the beauty it has to offer. The cottage has a warm, cozy bedroom, living room with open fire and fully equipped kitchen. Outside heated shower room and private log burning hottub. OPENING HOURS UPDATE

We have taken the decision to close the cafe for winter period and reopen March next year. With the rising costs, particularly electric, insurance, stock coupled the sporadic weather and the decline in numbers visiting the mountain we have come to this decision. We have not taken it lightly and want to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us to date, particularly our repeat local customers.

This is only for a temporary period and we will however be back with a renewed enthusiasm and a revamped cafe for the spring.

We will however diversify and the cottage will be available as a one bedroom holiday let from mid January.

Soo lovely to receive a visit from Alana Newell from The Jenny Foundation who had a surprise gift for Jude Harrison today. Jude’s money was stolen during the recent break in Carrick Cottage Cafe which he was saving for selling potatoes that he had planted in the spring and dug at the then end of the summer to sell at cafe. Jude was elated when Allana surprised him with a donation. Totally not necessary but the kindest most thoughtful gesture from Allana who donated on behalf of The Jenny Foundation. We have one happy boy this evening. Lovely to see something good come from a bad situation. # # #

Sad times when local business Carrick Cottage Cafe is broken into, windows smashed and all for a small sum of money. The thieves even took the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team charity box, money from Cassie’s Challenge book sales, my son’s money from selling potatoes he was saving. So whoever you are shame on you.

This is the second time in a number of months and with tough times with rising costs and expenses it is hard to take as businesses such as ours are already under pressure to survive.

Police Newry, Mourne & Down have investigated along forensics and we already know there was more than one culprit and we are hopeful DNA was found. So whoever it was if they are linked to any other criminal activity they will be caught.

People in the area please 🙏be vigilant and take care as we don’t want any further break in’s in the area.
