We found this wee one at the Mill Dam on Greenan Road, Warrenpoint yesterday evening around 6. Soaking, shivering, starving and extremely underweight, with zero road sense. USPCA closed and no out of hours dog warden. Contacted Corran Kennels in Downpatrick and they had a spare kennel for her thankfully, so we got her in the car and drove her there. They'll check for a chip, if no one comes forward for her she will be up for rehoming, at least she had a warm bed and full belly last night, I don't know when she would have had that last π I had a look through all the missing pet pages but could see no posts about a similar dog missing. Unsure if she was dumped or straying for a long time, but she's safe now.
Well folks, it's time for the hardy perennials to shine. One of my faves the Astrantia, so understated but so pretty π We also have a new cordyline in, the colour is πAs always, our stock is constantly being updated, to bring you the best selection. Have a good one, Emma
Well folks, weather a bit better today, that rain was wild!
Rainy days give me time to do things that need done inside, the Houseplant section needed a bit of re-jigging to make better use of the space I had. Hope you agree it looks a lot better and of course means I can fit more in π«£π€«π€£
More varieties than ever before and some wee rare ones not seen everywhere. Always on hand to offer advice and aftercare tips so please don't hesitate to ask π
Well folks, it's been a while since I was able to get making wreaths-so very thankful for all the purchases and orders, we've been kept very busy in summer beddingπ
So now all orders are up to date I had some spare time.
I refuse to use cheap or unrealistic looking flowers/foliage in my wreaths or arrangements, so every one is full to the brim with quality. I pay close attention to colours that match and contrast well together, every leaf and flower is individually attached. Once I have stood back a couple of hundred times making sure there's no gaps or odd looking bits, I'm happy to treat with UV Blocker and put them up for sale π€£ Below is what I have available currently. Prices on pics, hope you like, Emma π
Well folks, weather still a bit meh but the sunshine is trying to find it's way out today so here's hoping it stays. Loads of flowers to brighten things up though π

Well folks, bit of a change in the weather this morning, but the plants needed a wee drink anyway π
Thought I'd take this opportunity to address the slug/snail issue a lot of us experience and days like today will see them in full force as they love damp conditions. The picture below shows Hosta or plantain lily, one of my faves but slugs and snails treat it like an all you can eat buffet if there's no deterrents in place, especially if in the ground. I've not found copper tape to do anything and literally seen a slug slide over some with no effect π«€ Below I'll list a range of different ways to deter them that will help if in beds or pots, this is safe for all plants to use topically..
β΄οΈ boil some garlic cloves and onion up in water for about 20 mins, turn off heat and let infuse for a day or two, put into a blender or mash up with a fork-if its lumpy put through a coffee filter or cloth napkin, add some cayenne pepper, decant into a spray bottle and spray over the leaves once a week or more often if there's a lot of rain. This can also work as a good deterrent for aphids
β΄οΈ grating pure lavender soap round the base of the plant has proved very effective
β΄οΈ for plants in pots you can put vaseline in a thick layer around the top of the pot and cover in ordinary table salt, but will need regular application in wet weather
Hope this helps, have a good one folks, Emma π
Open as usual today folks π
Well folks. I just can't get enough of the dark foliage and contrasting flowers this year π dahlias and hydrangeas are IT for me atm. The hydrangea are budding up lovely. How stunninggggg do these look!?
The weather has done wonders for the perennials- some heat and a bit of rain π We have loads of perennials in, some just starting to burst into all their glory π
Well folks, thought I'd just put a wee post up to help explain the correct way to dead head. Our biggest seller is still the petunia/surfinia and they will need regular dead heading to keep them blooming and looking good. This will apply to all flowering summer bedding-if the heads aren't removed properly the plant will continue putting energy into that flower head to form seeds, which takes away the energy it needs to create more blooms. Remove the whole head not just the petals....Below I've some pics and explanations to show what to do π Emma

We were just about to lift this wall basket down to fill it with summer bedding, when this little nest was spotted in it, last planted out in winter- but a little bird (yet to be identified) has decided that this is where she wants to raise her little ones so it will stay put for as long as she and the little ones need it π¦

Well folks. Let's hope the rain stays away π€ the summer bedding is coming on lovely and looking at the long term forecast there appears to be no very low overnight temperatures for the next 10 days+ we rarely would see frost like temperatures long into May but would still suggest you keep an eye on weather just to make sure. So come on down and pick to your hearts content π₯° Open as normal throughout Bank Holiday π
Well folks, some lovely bits in, huge rhododendron, fresh batch of sweet pea, nasturtium and dianthus to name a few. We are full to capacity with all things bedding, shrubs, specimen trees, perennials, fruit trees and bushes, grow your own veg/fruit/tomatoes. Have a good one π

Just a little reminder to drop your baskets, pots, window boxes or whatever else in that you'd like filled with summer bedding. We will also have new pots, baskets and planters made up to take away, there's still risk of frost yet so I wouldn't recommend buying any bedding just yet unless you can protect them overnight. I'll let youse know when the last risk of frost is over with. I'll leave you with some photos sent to us by some very happy customers from last year π Have a good one, Emma π
