🔹 Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is a specialized bodywork protocol developed by Physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert. It involves a series of gentle mobilisations, stretches, and muscle energy techniques administered by the practitioner. 🔹

👉🏻 The term “kinetic” refers to movement and energy, highlighting the interconnectedness of the body’s systems.

In KCR, the focus is on balancing and aligning the entire kinetic chain to facilitate optimal movement and function. Various factors such as old injuries, chronic stress, and poor posture can disrupt this chain, leading to discomfort and reduced mobility. By releasing tension and restoring alignment in key areas, KCR aims to bring the body back into balance.

🙌🏻 The benefits of KCR are manifold.
Clients often experience a reduction in pain, discomfort, and stress, along with improvements in symptoms associated with chronic conditions. Additionally, KCR has been noted to enhance athletic performance.

☝️ During a KCR session, clients remain fully clothed on a therapy bed. The practitioner begins at the ankles and progresses upward through the body, addressing specific points along the kinetic chain. Prior to the session, a brief history and assessment are conducted to tailor the treatment to the individual’s needs.
After the session, clients receive stretches and aftercare advice to support their ongoing well-being.

👏🏼 Overall, KCR offers a holistic approach to addressing physical discomfort and promoting overall wellness. Clients frequently report feeling lighter, freer, and calmer immediately following a session, making it a valuable tool in achieving optimal health and mobility.

SPORTS & DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE-
SOME QUERIES ANSWERED:

‘Does it need to be painful to work?’ 😥

❎No. This is counterproductive!

Pain can put the body into an even further state of resistance and have a negative effect on the tissues and the nervous system, potentially inhibiting the healing process. ❤️‍🩹

-Yes there may be a temporary feeling of discomfort or tenderness in areas especially with significant restriction/dysfunction. There may also (but not always) be temporary side effects experienced 24-48 hrs following a treatment as the body processes and adjusts. Working into the deeper tissue does not mean working harder into the tissue and certainly shouldn’t equal pain. 😌

-We all respond differently and have different levels of sensitivity and tolerance that may also change treatment to treatment. The key is to find the optimum positive response and the priority is to always work with the body, never against it. 💫

‘Is it only for those who do sports?’ 🤔

❎ No. Don’t let the name put you off!

-We are all unique but each body can still hold and experience similar tensions, imbalances, injuries or tissue dysfunction through a variety of causes/reasons. ⚖️

-Yes it can provide benefit for those doing sports/exercise, and specific treatments can be tailored to these such as pre and post event massages which can aid in injury prevention, reduce soreness and enhance performance. 🏃 🚴‍♀️ ⛹🏻‍♀️……..

….it can also help
•after any repeated physical activity
•possible work-related issues
•poor postural habits
•areas of general overuse….
and in certain circumstances may also play an important role in assisting in injury rehabilitation.

Overall sports and deep tissue massage can:

✔️Identify muscle imbalances
✔️Use assessments and various techniques
✔️Look at more specific areas of concern
✔️Assist in improving posture & flexibility
✔️Help ease muscle tightness or pain
✔️Aid in recovery and healing

WHAT IS KINETIC CHAIN RELEASE THERAPY?

⚖️ KINETIC put simply is energy in motion.
Our body and being is all interconnected and requires each part or ‘chain’ to be balanced and aligned in order to move and function with ease (rather than dis-ease.)

⚖️Everything from old injuries to repeated physical or mental stress to poor postural habits due to work/modern day living…
left unchecked these can start to impact that ‘CHAIN’ and we start to develop unwanted symptoms, pain or conditions that impact our lives.
(Although ‘unwanted’ and unpleasant they are actually the body reaching out and giving us information to listen and act!)

⚖️KCR therapy doesn’t claim to cure or diagnose and doesn’t target specific areas-
What KCR does do is work on the whole body chain system, allowing it the opportunity to come back to the best point of balance and alignment for that individual. It allows areas of tension or trauma the opportunity to RELEASE and encourages the natural flow of energy to return.

⚖️KCR can be an important and effective starting point as it rebalances the body as a whole, this not only starts the healing process but allows both the client and therapist to ‘see the wood for the trees’ and identify if further therapies may be of benefit. 💫

Kinetic Chain Release therapy may not be as familiar to some people as other therapies and with unfamiliarity, understandably comes uncertainty!

I have put together in a separate post, what I hope is a helpful summary of what KCR means for those who are maybe still in two minds about trying it.

I will also repost again details of what happens in a session with some common FAQs that will hopefully give some clarity.

If anyone has a specific query or would like to go ahead and book a session then please do get in touch.
Kirsten 😊

HOW IS YOUR JAW DOING?!…..

Our jaw has one of the strongest muscles in the body 💪🏻
Our Temporomandibular or TMJ joint is also the most used joint (talking, chewing, swallowing, yawning etc)🗣️

But……

We can also hold a huge amount of tension there. We often clench without realising, especially when we are stressed, angry, anxious ….even cold or tired. This can potentially cause issues such as headaches, neck and shoulder pain, teeth grinding etc.

It may not stop there though!……

The jaw and pelvis have a link way back in embryo development.
They are also thought to be connected, along with other areas of the body, via one of the deep fascial lines. (Part of our connective tissue). 💫

The TMJ may also affect the Trigeminal nerve (causing pain and other issues) and this can also impact our Vagus nerve……the Vagus nerve is the main component of our parasympathetic nervous system or our ‘rest and digest’. 🧘 …….
🌟
It’s easy to think of our body as separate ‘parts’, especially when we have a specific issue that might be bothering us (and this is often how it is presented to us too).
But all these ‘parts’ make up a unique (and amazing!) system that interlinks, connects, communicates, but also stores what is personal to us to make us the individual beings we are.
🌟
Pain or symptoms we have in one area may actually stem from somewhere different in our body, or equally can go on to cause issues elsewhere if not addressed.

Bringing some alignment and balance back can be a good starting point.

🌟
If this feels like something you need then why not see if a KCR session can help?
For further details or to book just drop me a message 😊….

Our body is a map for all of our life experiences up to this moment. Every trauma we’ve undergone has been imprinted into our cellular matrix.

This frequently results in pain patterns from holding on to the tension and stress. But how do we release those issues lying buried within our tissues?

KCR offers an access point, making it possible for us to resolve and release the traumas stuck within. The Kinetic Chain Release protocol's mobilsations allow us to regain balance and resolve pain quickly and often permanently.

Hello everyone,

There’s still a couple of spaces on our Foundation Fascia Course - Introduction to Fascia Work on the 11th November 2023, 10:00-16.00.

We are super excited to offer the first of our Fascial Release Therapy Courses. This course is the first step into learning what fascia is, what it does, why it does it and techniques to help release it. During the day we will use our own signature techniques which work on the body, mind and soul. Fascia is a fascinating, intelligent, spiritual organ which many are only just beginning to understand the importance of. Kirsten Green has been a qualified Myofascial Release and Bodywork Therapist for over 12 years, and has a wealth of knowledge on this subject to share.

Course content includes:
What is Fascia?
How Fascia Works.
The conciousness of Fascia.
What is Myofascial Release?
Indications and Contraindications.
Basic Fascial Release Techniques.

The course is suitable for therapists wishing to add this knowledge to their existing practice, or for those who wish to gain more insight into their own healing.
Accreditation is being sought from the Complementary Medical Association, and this is the first in a practitioner series of Fascial Work Courses. Like all of our courses, we run in small groups with 2 instructors so that all students receive individual attention.

My background……

I have worked within either the healthcare, fitness or therapy sector for the last 20 years. I am a registered paramedic and have been with the ambulance service for the past 14 years.
I have also worked in neurological rehabilitation as a therapy assistant as well as having been a qualified personal trainer, with a particular interest in spinal health and back issues following my own challenges with this.

Over the years I have witnessed and experienced first-hand how physical, mental and emotional stress or trauma can become stored within our body, often resulting in a range of (sometimes preventable) health issues and disease. This is combined with a long-standing interest in holistic medicine, functional training and bodywork therapy and so I decided to turn interests and experiences into action and set up Kinective Being!

I completed my Kinetic Chain Release training through the KCR Academy in Scotland and alongside this I offer Connective Tissue Release therapy (the Hugh Gilbert method), advanced Postural Energetics and Swedish massage therapy. I am fully insured through Balens Health Insurance.

By rediscovering and reconnecting with our own health, bodies and wellbeing, we are able to start returning to a place of personal balance. 🌟

Thought I’d post a bit more detail on what to expect from a treatment……

20/08/2023

Welcome to Kinective Being 🌟

- I am an Accredited Kinetic Chain Release therapist and I also offer massage therapy and connective tissue release.
I am based in North Tyneside but I also do mobile/home visits if required.

ABOUT THE THERAPIES:

-KCR is an original and highly effective bodywork protocol developed by leading Physiotherapist, the late Hugh Gilbert.
The treatment is fully clothed and uses a gentle combination of mobilisations, stretches and muscle energy techniques that can help bring about postural changes and correct apparent leg length differences.
Allowing the body to be brought back into balance and alignment can often result in the reduction of pain and discomfort and help with a number of chronic symptoms or conditions as well as showing improvements to athletic performance.

💫

-Massage therapy can be beneficial in reducing muscle tension and relieving stress.
It may also help ease areas of pain and improve mobility. It enhances circulation and stimulates lymphatic flow which helps remove toxins and can promote healing. Massage encourages a sense of relaxation and may also improve mood and sleep.

💫

-Connective Tissue Release. Connective Tissue surrounds our entire body and is a whole system network of support, protection, communication and much more. Areas can often become 'stuck' through various traumas, injuries or repeated stress on the body. CTR therapy works with the body, releasing those areas and allowing the natural flow and function to return.

💫

-Encouraging rebalance can help release both physical and emotional stress or trauma that may be held or ‘stuck’ within certain parts of the body. This allows us to feel more connected in ourselves and can help in restoring and improving overall wellbeing. 🌟

To book a session or for further details please get in touch via messenger or you can e-mail me at: [email protected]

Welcome to Kinective Being 🌟

Providing a space to reconnect with and prioritise your health, body and wellbeing. 💫

I am an Accredited Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) practitioner, massage and myofascial release therapist based in North and South Tyneside.

About the therapies:

⚖️ KCR is an original bodywork protocol developed by leading physiotherapist, the late Hugh Gilbert. It is carried out fully clothed and uses a gentle combination of mobilisations, stretches and muscle energy techniques and can assist in bringing the body back to balance and alignment.

⚖️Sports and deep tissue massage can help in identifying muscle imbalances and overcompensation, assist in injury rehab and can incorporate additional techniques, assessments and stretching. Those experiencing pain or dysfunction from possible work-related issues, postural issues or general overuse can also find benefit.

⚖️Swedish massage is a suited to those looking for a more calming and relaxing massage, it applies longer, slower and more gentle massage strokes and can activate the ‘rest and digest’ part of nervous system helping increase endorphins and reduce cortisol which can help regulate stress, mood and sleep.

⚖️Seated/Onsite acupressure massage lasts 20-40 mins and uses a series of traditional acupressure points/massage through clothes on a specially designed chair, ideal for businesses , those unable to lie on a treatment couch or who prefer treatments through clothing.

⚖️Myofascial and connective tissue release apply gentle, sustained pressure on the area being treated. The techniques are held for a minimum of 3-5 minutes to allow connection and movement of the underlying tissue and help ease areas of restriction, allowing the potential for natural movement and function to return.

To book a session or for further details you can get in touch via messenger, e-mail or mobile or visit the website.

Kirsten 😊

(Please note: At times I may recommend a different therapy/therapist if I feel this would benefit someone further. In some cases I may advise that referral to a specialist Health Care Professional is required before continuing with treatment.)
