27-28 April

Day 1 (Saturday): 10am to 4pm
Day 2 (Sunday): 10am to 1pm

On Saturday, learn how to centre clay on the wheel and how to throw beakers and bowls.
On Sunday, learn how to refine your thrown pots prior to firing, and select your preferred glaze colours.

Leave your pots with us for firing and glazing, and they will be ready to collect approximately 4 weeks later.

A great introduction to all the necessary basic wheel-throwing techniques!

Do you have a young pottery fan in the family? Have they been inspired by the Great Pottery Throwdown?

We’re running 2 children’s pottery workshops over the upcoming half-term break at our CASTLE ASHBY studio (NN7 1LA):

WHEEL-THROWING WORKSHOP: (Wed, 21 February) 2-4pm (age 12-16)
HANDBUILDING WORKSHOP (Thu, 22 February) 2-4pm (age 7-11)

Join our lovely tutor, Gemma, for some pottery fun: younger children (ages 7-11) can make & decorate their own nameplate using handbuilding/modelling techniques, while older budding potters (ages 12-16) can have a go at creating a pot on the potter’s wheel.

Spaces (£35) are limited to 8 participants per workshop.

The Great Pottery Throw Down continues tonight at 7.45pm on Channel 4.

I’ve just learned that today - the 3rd Monday of January - is Blue Monday…officially the most depressing day of the year!

If, like me, you can’t wait to see the end of the post-Christmas cold weather and dark evenings, take a look a the pottery courses we have available for our next session beginning late-February and cheer yourself up by taking up a new hobby 🙂

Wise words from the late Lucie Rie…

A very enjoyable afternoon was spent yesterday at an exhibition of her work at The Holburne Museum in Bath. Her story is fascinating and her work well worth a look if you’re not familiar with it… it’s given me lots of new ideas!
