The 'Brilliant Barney Doodle ' 14yrs of age 🥳.

Barney has osteoarthritis in his hock (ankle). He's still living his best life and still loving his walks. This 'help 'em up' harness enables his family to provide extra assistance getting him into the car, up the stairs and during his day to day walks. It gives Barney the confidence to know that if he's feeling slightly weak or tired he can get a little extra help.

Bailey's sister Martha comes for hydro to help build muscle strength for her luxating patellas (dodgy knees!!).

Bailey comes for moral support...but really just to 'mess around' . Here he is showing me his very clever trick of balancing on a wobble cushion. This shows his great core strength & limb awareness. Martha & Bailey are agility dogs and work very hard on their body awareness skills to help prevent injury while they are doing agility.
Wobble cushions are cost effective & easily sourced, so a great tool for teaching...front feet on, the back feet on & then sit & balance.
Super also for working everyone's brain cells.😀

All dachshund & frenchie & pug owners should be aware of conditions such as intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) these breeds are prone to.

I will be starting pilates & strengthening classes soon. This will be a once a week course for 6weeks, teaching you how to spot early signs of IVDD along with home environment management & exercises to help with core strength & overall fitness.

Today, the handsome Norry visited the Active Pet Centre to check out the facilities before starting hydro for fitness.
Norry is 7months old and is an indoor cat. His dad reached the impressive weight of 10kg 😱 so it's important to keep his muscles & bones fit and strong. Norry will have a few more visits to get used to the smells & noises before actually getting his feet wet! 🥰

Dexter is my ultimate 'fitness freak' 😁...he has regular fitness sessions in the treadmill where he trots at an average speed of 8km/HR.
He recently blew all other competitors out of the water by winning 6/8 runs in his agility comp.
Keep up the good work Dex 🥰
( Can't help but wonder how fit ide be if I trotted in there with him 😳🤣)

I am running some workshops on back health for your dog.
Everything from spotting early signs of discomfort to strengthening exercises and the 'do's' and 'don'ts' for these little 'big' dogs.

There is lots you can incorporate into your dachshunds lifestyle to ensure a healthy body and strong back.

Many owners whose dogs I have treated post spinal surgery said they weren't aware dachshunds are prone to back issues.

Initial workshop takes place this Sunday 5th March 9am - 11.30am at Cogenhoe Village Hall.
