Anti-inflammatory medication is often used to reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis. This interesting study found that it may also contribute to other health issues!
Physiotherapy can be another way to help reduce the symptoms.
A common medical solution to those wiht osteoarthritis are NSAIDs. While effective in reducing pain in the short term are there any long term effects it has on our health? Should we be taking them all the time?
This study found that those with osteoarthritis had a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease than controls without osteoarthritis. Now this can be due a number of factors however increased NSAID use was found to account to be a signficiant contributor to increased CVD risk in those with OA.
Be mindful of a client's medication use and try advocate for other interventions!
