HI everyone 👋🏽

I haven’t posted on here in forever as I’ve been super busy with everything but I feel a life update is well overdue!! Here’s a few pics of what I’ve been up to over the last few months…

At the moment, I’m working full time in my NHS job as a Core Surgical Trainee in Plastic Surgery👩🏽‍⚕️💖 I’m absolutely loving it and get to see and treat lots of interesting/challenging cases. I spend most of my time in the operating theatre with seniors or in clinics, but also do lots of long and tiring oncalls 🥱 I had a surgical instrument quiz at the start of training (pic 5) and no, they are not all scissors!! ✂️

I’ve also recently bought my first home 🏡 and I’ve been spending my spare time doing DIY projects👩🏽‍🔧 I’ve always dreamed of having hydrangeas and finally managed to get some, so please let me know of any gardening tips to keep them alive 🌺

Last week I had my first pumpkin spiced latte before work at and it was delicious🧡💉

Reasons why SPF needs to be your BFF 🧴

UV rays are emitted during the day whether it seems sunny or not 🌞

There are two types of UV rays which affect the skin, a broad spectrum SPF will protect you against both:
- UVA - Ageing rays which contribute to fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation
- UVB - Burning rays which are responsible for sunburn and skin cancers

Surprisingly many people don’t use this as part of their daily skincare routine!

Let’s talk about exfoliators 😶‍🌫️

🧴Many people believe using scrubs and physical exfoliators help alleviate bumpy or uneven skin. However contrary to popular belief, most physical exfoliants scratch the skin and cause microtears 😥

🧴The most effective way to resurface your skin is with chemical exfoliants for example a professional skin peel or at home skincare products

🧴AHAs such as glycolic acid and lactic acid lift off a layer of built-up dead cells on the skins surface to reveal a brighter and more even complexion. These also reduce the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles

🧴BHAs, primarily salicylic acid, pe*****te deep into pores and shift sebum and built up dead cells to help prevent breakouts. 2% salicylic acid tends to work well for acne

🧴However, if these products are overused or used improperly, we can leave our skin raw, burnt and at risk of premature ageing

Some basic rules:
1. Avoid using AHAs daily (3 times a week is usually enough)

2. Avoid products containing retinol and vitamin C directly after AHA use

3. When using retinol, don’t use AHAs as both have exfoliating properties

4. Use SPF! These products cause the skin to become highly photosensitive. This should be at least SPF 30 with a 4* UVA rating

5. Lactic acid is the best product for dry or dehydrated skin. This is gentle with great hydrating properties

I don’t know who needs to hear this but time and time again I am messaged to see whether I would be willing to do treatments for cheaper because x,y,z down the road are doing it for half the price. The answer is 🙅🏽‍♀️

I am a fully trained Doctor and the only person who will be performing your consultation and treatment. I am regulated and accountable by the General Medical Council. I am trained to a level 7 standard in facial aesthetics (not a one day course!), which means I’ve sat theory exams, practical exams and done multiple essays and assignments before gaining my injectable qualification on top of my medical degree. When treating patients, my aim is always to AVOID complications and this comes from an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy. If a patient has a side effect, for example, an infection, a vascular occlusion, an allergic reaction etc, I am able to assess, recognise and treat this in a timely fashion. I am a member of who are on hand 24 hours per day to guide and advise medical professionals through complication management. I am also part of a larger doctor and nursing community who can offer help and support should a complication arise. Finally, I am fully insured by should further help be required.

It’s important to be aware of the facts and I’m sharing this with you so that you really think about who is injecting your face. My price reflects my knowledge, skills, expertise and quality of care that I can provide 👩🏽‍⚕️

A friend of mine asked me about these and it got me thinking 💭 💭💭

Collagen supplements are popular especially as lots of celebrities and influencers live by them! But are they actually worth the hype???

Preliminary studies are somewhat promising but certainly have questionable evidence 🤔 Another problem with these products is that there is no MHRA or FDA regulation for them are they are classified as dietary supplements. Therefore, the products can vary hugely and you don’t necessarily know what you are getting…

Overall, it’s not as clear cut as I first thought. The right thing to do is to inform yourself and educate📚 These are not a MUST have anti-ageing treatment but if you like them, can afford them and tolerate them well, then no harm right? It’s all up for debate 👩‍🏫

We use aseptic techniques to reduce your risk of infection. Should you wear makeup to your appointment, we can clean the area prior to treatment as well as disinfecting at the end too.

After this, it’s down to you 🤗

Post treatment it’s super important to not touch the treated areas with dirty hands and to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours!

I know this is easier said than done but please try to time your appointments so that you’re able to follow these instructions and you don’t end up with an infection.
