It's Volunteer Appreciation Week... and we could not love our volunteers more! This year we particularly focused on supporting our participants (asylum seekers, refugees and isolated migrants) to volunteer in their new community - within New Routes' activities, with partner organisations, at the city's events and festivals... and finally teaming-up with Voluntary Norfolk to make connections between local businesses and our participant pathways much easier (...more on this to come...). Participant volunteering has included everything from building renovations, to volunteering at the NHS (leading to job opportunities as people receive their Leave to Remain status).
It's great, when out and about enjoying the cultural life of the city, you find some of our sanctuary seekers enjoying it alongside you... and then actually giving YOU help and information! Brilliant 🫶🙌✨
