I was asked to contribute to a book chapter a while ago, not having any clue where it was going… fast forward 12 months (definitely didn’t forget I’d submitted it 👀) and I get an email from my supervisor saying it was published - so happy to find out it is in fantastic strength and conditioning for golf 📚🙌🏼 Hopefully more to come as we unearth more about golf and biomechanics ⛳️
The results are in 🥁… After a good mix of responses from players and coaches alike, yes edges the poll! Personally I’m more on the side of ‘no’ here… there are wayyyyyyy too many variables to consider. What to do we perceive to be a “good golf swing”? Can a good golf swing be a fade? Can a good golf swing have a “weak” or “strong” grip? Can a good golf swing have “early extension”? As a biomechanist, I still need to pay A LOT of attention to the ball and impact factors. If you have any thoughts post them below ⬇️
HE S&C students conducting some baselines testing with our academy golfers this week 📈 We discussed their rationale for selecting certain exercises/tests/“screens” and had some good critical discussions.

Golf Schools Over the winter months our Biomechanics Specialist Lewis Clarke is running various golf schools | Peter Field Golf Shop, Norwich.
Over the winter months we’re planning lots of clinics and educational events, so we can share all our expertise! We have one space this weekend left with me and .mitchellfitter, asking the question “which is better, a fitting or coaching sessions?” - DM me to book! Also keep an eye out on our socials () 📱 and emails 📧 for more clinics coming!
Evening all 👋🏼 last week we had the pleasure of visiting for a few practice days. I’ll be posting some of my favourite swing vids courtesy of stunning 📸 skills as I was too busy soaking it all in through the eyes! Unfortunately we both picked up covid and still recovering (very rough 🤮). We’ll be back stronger…
Huge shoutout to our little lefty legend competing in Vegas this week ⛳️ here’s a couple of my favourite photos from award winning photography, including an awesome view of his extension (pick where!) through impact and meeting friends/having fun 😃
Massive congratulations to all our Golf Academy students who received awards at sports awards evening 🏆 Special shoutout to who cleaned up a few awards for his continued dedication and hard work to elite performance 📈

As golfers, we are often obsessed with video and how our swing looks. Although that’s a different discussion, I want to show you a camera angle not often seen by golfers. The posterior/rear/behind (call it whatever you like if it makes you feel better) view really shows us a lot of how you are moving. As you watch a few of my students from this week, you’ll see how they are all using lower and upper body differently, in both the backswing and downswing. So next time you record your swing from down the line and start picking apart your club positions at P2.75, try looking from a different angle angle seeing how you move (translate, rotate, elevate, compress, push and tonnes more!).
Finding myself in a real state of deep gratitude over this past week - lots to be thankful for in this crazy world. Thanks to my recently announced fiancée for firstly saying yes (!) and secondly supporting me in chasing my crazy passions, ambitions and busy schedule - your support makes me be the best version of me ❤️ Lots more to be thankful for, including an exciting week coming up, starting an additional role… stay tuned 📈
And that’s a wrap in the office! I’m on my doctorate studies for a couple of days, then some annual leave to recharge the batteries and catch up on some reading 🔋📚 Any queries, I’ll respond when I’m back on the 14th, or reach out to the team ! See you all in a few weeks 👋🏼
Evening 👋🏼 In my story today I played the classic “guess the handicap game”… but why? In our swing lab we have some great tech, but video has been around for a while and most people have seen their swing from down the line, like this view here. Most students have a very defined negative opinion on what their top of backswing looks like, “it’s too flat” “my wrist is too cupped” “my shoulder plane is wrong” etc. But, this 1 frame and angle, at one singular position of the swing, only tells us a very very small part of a very big picture. How did we get it here and how are we going to move from here, would maybe be two better questions. Remember, looking swing pretty on Instagram doesn’t mean scores reduce!

Plenty of eyes on James Hart du Preez this week on the PGA Tour @ the American Express. At just over 6’9 and with moves like this, he can reach 211mph of ball speed 🔥 Plenty to admire here, so pay close attention! Would love to see a face-on if any fellow coaches have one or could get one this week! 📸 Video cred to -
Social media is becoming inundated with tips which will add miles onto your drives, make your ball striking elite and hole every putt you look at 🔥 Whilst I wish this was all true for my own game, unfortunately if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. It’s easy to get sucked into quick gains, or try the latest drill to see if it works for your weekend swindle. However, change takes time. Just like everything in life, hard work, effort and good direction is going to equate to better performance 📈 Chasing gains also isn’t always a linear process, there will be days when progress stagnates, but the medium to long term picture is still taking shape! So next time you see that video which baits you in, stop and think… how will this help my game? Is this high quality information? Is it personal to me? Also, feel free to tag someone who needs to hear this message! 🤣

I am running some golf biomechanics clinics here at alongside our coaching team! This will be across some evenings in January (TBC) and I’ll be covering some key biomechanics principles we analyse using our 3D system () and pressure plates (). Lots of learning and engagement! Evening y’all 👋🏼 I’ve seen this posting the rounds and had a few people send it to me for my ‘take’. I can only comment on my experience in golf as a player, fitter and coach. We (the team at ) spend a lot of time and money on CPD courses, getting and remaining certified, getting the best fitting equipment (launch monitors are fricken expensive bro) and having an extensive fitting selection. This is why I believe paying for a professional, agnostic/independent fitting service is justifiable. IMO we should be looking at more issues in club fitting, such as the lack of “extensively trained fitters”, who are just good golfers who measure your height and make you try 1000 head/shaft combos. We should be looking at why people have reservations about getting a custom fitting and overcome those boundaries. We should be looking at why custom fitters don’t understand the launch monitor data they work with. It’s more than just look at the screen and see which goes further. So if you don’t want to pay for a fitting that’s cool, but this helps us give you most professional service you would expect. Would love to hear your thoughts with an open discussion💭
Batteries have been recharged and we are back! 🔋Here’s some snippets from another busy week. This week marks the start of my doctorate journey, I’m so excited to delve deeper into the world of elite 🏌️♀️ athletes. On Mondays we’ve been running applied pysch classes with the Easton College Academy, helping them dive into the key aspects of a performance routine. I’ve also been helping golfers build a blueprint for off season progress, giving the students more ownership over there practice and technique. Have a great weekend 👋🏼
