Supporting Your SEND Child through Bullying Strategies and Resources
Preparing Your SEND Child for the New School Year
As the new school year approaches, it's normal to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety—especially when you're preparing your SEND child for the changes ahead. Whether they’re starting a new class or transitioning to a new school, it’s important to support them every step of the way. 💛
🗓️ Start Early: Begin talking about the upcoming school year and create a visual schedule to help them understand what to expect.
👕 Manage Sensory Issues: Practice wearing the school uniform at home and make any necessary adjustments for comfort, such as removing tags or choosing soft fabrics.
🧘♀️ Teach Calm-Down Techniques: Equip your child with simple strategies they can use when feeling overwhelmed, like deep breathing or using a favourite sensory toy.
🤗 Visit the School: If possible, visit the school beforehand to help your child become familiar with the environment and meet their teacher.
Remember, your love, patience, and understanding are the most important tools in helping your child feel confident and ready for the school year ahead. Together, we can make this transition as smooth as possible. 🌈

Creating a Peaceful Bedtime Easing Your SEND Child Back into Routine After the Holidays
Sunday self care post for today 🫶🏼
Just for today I will not worry
Just for today I will love
Just for today I will be kind to myself
Just for today I will be grateful for all that my child brings me, good and bad
Just for today I will remind myself that I am doing the best I can
Wait where did February, March, April, May, June and July go???
I was only just getting through the longest January ever and now I can’t believe it’s August 1st already!
Well the weather has been beautiful and looks like it’s going to continue to be hot for the next couple of weeks so enjoy the sunshine, if you’ve got holidays booked, create the best memories and love, laugh and live 💖
We see everyone talking about mindset and how you can do anything and everything you put your mind to, you just need to believe in yourself…..
Now whilst I agree you can do anything, you can’t do everything…
Now what I mean is, you can absolutely do anything you put your mind to, but you can do everything, being a mum, wife, referee, cook, cleaner, managing disabilities and children with disabilities is a lot and if you are trying to do it all and have a dream or running your own business, the only thing you will end up with……is burnout!
So take a moment to look at what you can delegate to family members or colleagues, write a list of priorities and start taking some self care time so that you aren’t running around doing everything and don’t take any time for you 🫶🏼

Meltdowns and tantrums can be challenging, but they also offer valuable opportunities for us as parents to deepen our connection with our child.
These moments are not just outbursts but expressions of overwhelming emotions or unmet needs. By approaching them with compassion, patience, and a willingness to understand, we can turn these tough times into meaningful experiences.
Instead of seeing meltdowns as disruptions, we should view them as a chance to learn more about our child's inner world. By listening to their needs, we can give them comfort, and show empathy. This approach not only helps in calming the immediate situation but also builds trust and strengthens our bond over time.
Remember, every meltdown is a moment for love, understanding and compassion - for both of us, as a mum and our children.
One of the comments on my recent post about my newest tattoo was ‘you joined the cult…congratulations’ but so many people are assuming it’s a CULT.
But don’t really know what a cult is?
cult
noun
1.
a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object.
“the cult of St Olaf”
2.
a person or thing that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society.
“the series has become a bit of a cult in the UK”
So yes I have a devotion towards an object, the Coaching Masters trainings, yes I am part of a group that is popular in society…..
Can you say you are a part of something that helps you become an accredited coach, gives you confidence to fully change how you see yourself and how healing yourself can then help you heal others?

This weeks snippet is on diagnosis, trusting your instincts and gathering your evidence including videos and paper trails.
As an SEND mum, it is important that you learn to accept your feelings and emotions and give yourself time to rest and recharge.
Accepting all the emotions and then giving yourself time to rest and recharge, it will help you feel better in the long run, making you happier and calmer for you and your family.
Remember, every feeling is a valid part of your journey as an SEND mum.
Let's support each other in acknowledging our emotions and finding strength in them and if you would like to be part of a wonderful community join my Facebook group, the link is

This week's snippet is Teaching Meditation.
Meditation isn't just helpful for adults, teaching meditation practices to our children can be just as helpful if not
more so.
Meditation can help our SEND children by boosting their confidence and self-esteem as well as helping with anxiety, better sleep and improving emotional regulation.
If you would like to know more about my meditation practices, please do reach out or book a call via my website.

The secret to happiness is freedom...and the secret to freedom is courage.
Such a powerful affirmation, unless you have the courage to let go of all your fears and limiting beliefs you will never be free, and o be free is to be happy!
It took me over 15 years to realise the I was in such a bad place, with my mental and physical health, trying to manage myself, an abusive partner and 3 children with varying neurodiversity and disabilities.
But one day I gathered up the courage to say NO I am not doing this anymore, and so I became a single parent and started working on my self belief and development.
It hasn't been an easy journey by it has been rewarding and I have grown so much as a person, I am free and more importantly I am happy.

SEND Mum2Mum Snippets
This weeks snippet is about self-esteem.
Praising your child, or more commonly used 'celebrating the little things' can give your child such a confidence boost, I mean why wouldn't you want to celebrate their wins with them right?
Even if it is something simple, like seeing how hard they practised their spellings this week, or, acknowledging that they made their bed ever day this week.
Make them feel good about themselves, the difference it will make is amazing, for both of you.
Look out for next weeks SEND Mum2Mum Snippet
So excited that I’ve been picked to be VIP at Nansa’s Visible Festival this August, it’s is the second year of running this at The Forum in Norwich for Neurodiversity and I get to be a voice for them by sharing my neurodivergent story 🧩
I love Daffodils, last year I saw a beautiful little jug with some in it and I knew I wanted some for our table, I had a little juice jug that I knew would look great with some in, I bought 2 bunches unflowered 2 weeks ago from Lidl and they’ve bloomed lovely.
Who loves daffodils in the spring? 🌼
***Turn away if you’re squeamish***
Ok so today I’ve ventured way out of my comfort zone today by doing a live on TikTok, fluffed that up, went back on and did another 7 minute one which was much better, yay me!! 🎥
However I’ve been poorly for a few days and my stoma output resembles the colour and consistency of mint sauce (told you to turn away lol) and I’ve got a banger of a headache 🤕
But not letting it stop me I’ve tried to get as much done today while I was able, now I’m off for a couple of days of rest from working as I really do feel pants, and so I’ll leave you with this quote;
“Resting is immensely powerful to ignite the glorious star within you. Power yourself by powering up your relaxing game”
