Who is Bishy Barney Boats, and what do we do?

Established in 2018, we brought electric powered dayboats to River Green, Thorpe St Andrew, after a long absence we returned boat hire back to River Green restarting the industry to a more forgotten part of the Norfolk Broads a beautiful location once regarded as a Jewel of the Broads.

We started with just 4 of our Traditional Bishy boats and a gazebo (a market stall for boat hire), each year that has passed we've pushed along with careful sustainable growth, 2024 will see us hiring a fleet of 5 Traditional Bishy Boats, 3 Electric 'Grande' class (8 seater) and 1 8 seater Diesel powered dayboat.

But boat hire is now not all that we are, our reception room is easily missed discretely located just to to rear of the toilet block but it's worth seeking out, still in its development we have a small selection of drinks, snacks, ice-creams, floating bird food and boating/Bishy merchandise.

When visiting River Green this summer please come and give us a look.

The boating season is upon us, we are bit (a lot!) behind in the workshop, Grande 3 is now looking like one of ours, it's looking like she will join the fleet shortly after Easter.

A very rare breed, Sean here is one of our finest Bishy helpers.
He has had a recent health scare, it's not our place to say more but we are relieved and happy to say that he recovering well and although has some things to get used to will be fine.
Sean is 🤔..... Well Sean is an idiot, but he is our idiot! He is also kind, helpful and always willing to work. We recall one sunny day from the summer before last when I (Mark, aka the Bishyman) couldnt weight bare on one foot, working was tricky, Sean was due to finish at 1pm, at 3pm he was still at River Green, I asked him why he was still working? his reply "because you can't do it" that day he gained my upmost respect.
Sean, my friend, when you read this know that we got you, this summer you will be fine, we will work around any issues you might have as you adjust to your new normal.

Bishy 2 has turned a corner in its major refurb.
Extensive works on that botched nose job, lots of other areas addressed too and finally the happy moment when the seemingly never ending dust storm gets cleaned out and an undercoat of paint on.
The Bishy red comes next 😁

Oh Bishy 2!
Its clear to see that Bishy 2 some time ago has been the victim of a physical assault. She has had some botched reconstruction work mainly around the nose.

From this point a sad familiar story, more and more fillers have been pumped into her as she has sort the perfect appearance, each time looking good for a short time before the cracks of backstreet surgery show back though!!

Fear not little boat, we got you, you looked best when you were more natural. Grinder has been busy and most of the grot is removed, you will be rebuilt back to your best.

Yesterday was a sticky, smelly day! Beginning to look like a Grande Bishy boat.

Finally Grande 3 interior is starting to take shape.
Lots more smelly fibre glass stuff to go.
Getting there...... Slowly 🤣
