When I came along and purchased my boatyard on Thorpe Island, the electric boats available for hire in Thorpe St Andrew were, erm, cough, let's just say basic, budget boats.

I don't buy into the town councils goal that only one motorised boat hire company is allowed in Thorpe - especially when there used to be 20 hire businesses on the island as recently as the 1960's. Although, to be fair, the recent emails, threats and wholly fictional accusations I've received from one particular unelected and hired staff from the council probably isn't a true reflection of their policies and behaviour in general, more like one bad apple so to speak!

It'd be fabulous if more people came along and purchased land on the island to improve their plot and reintroduce boat hire back to Thorpe St Andrew from one of the few remaining boatyards on Thorpe Island.

If cramped, dirty, noisy, slow, old boats really are your thing, you're definitely going to hate my boats and will never be able to justify spending more for quality - we won't miss each other!

For everyone else, I urge you to make the most of this great weather and book one of my electric boats, but be warned, once you have experienced a relaxing and serene journey on my new electric boats - everything else will just be a disappointment - fact.

If I was looking to hire a day boat on the Norfolk Broads it'd have to be electric - have you ever stood within 30m of some diesel day boats and realised that it's anything but a peaceful experience?! Not to mention the smell👎

If I'm parting with my hard earned dosh for a day boat, it'd also have to be an open boat - there's no way I'd want any sort of cabin sweat box or roll back roof - I want a 360 degree field of vision to watch nature and take photos.

Another priority on my not very long list of basic requirements for any day boat I'm hiring is space and comfort👍 - the last thing I'd want is to be boxed in around the sides, sweating it out with the constant thump of an old diesel engine and the occasional whiff of emissions as the main event 👎
