Golf Society founded in 2001 by former General Manager Richard Maxwell of the now closed Oasis Sports and Leisure Club Norwich.
Society secretary is Richard Green and current Captain is Julian Elliot.
Great Society day out yesterday at Gorleston GC. As usual we were looked after superbly by the club. Weather was good for scoring too! Congratulations to individual winner Brendan โPaddyโ McCarney. Superb 40 points from the smooth tempo Irishman!๐๐ป Team winners were the final group out with 87 pts - Keith High,James Crosby,Chris Futter & Jules Elliott. Nearest the pin winners were Jules & Chris from that winning group too as well as Chrissie Owenโs.
Next event (the 3rd already) is on Friday 10th May at Glen Lodge Bawburgh. See you all there ๐โณ๏ธ๐ป

It was great to be back with the start of our new golfing season! Looked after superbly as usual by all the staff at Bungay GC ๐ Fantastic breakfast before play enjoyed by all the members!๐ Congratulations to Day winner Tony Tuddenham with a solid 38pts and to our 2023 Order of Merit Champion - 5 handicapper Chris Barker! Chris scoring flawless 38 pts yesterday and I had the privilege of being in his group too! Well done Tony & Chris! ๐๐ป Next up is Gorleston on April 12th. โณ๏ธ๐ป

Itโs been another wonderful golf season for the Society touring some of the best courses Norfolk & Suffolk have to offer!
Our final order of merit event is to be staged in North Suffolk at Rookery Park.

28 played at Caister on Friday on a fresh and quite windy day.
An excellent breakfast was enjoyed .
CHRIS BARKER was our winner.
His first ever OGS event win.
Chris playing off 6 handicap had a level par front 9 with 2 birdies then came home in 5 over to score an excellent 37 points in the conditions.
Skip John Milton scored 35 points to pip Jules Elliott and Tony Matless on countback for runners up spot.
A point further back was Brendan McCarney and new boy Neil Dade both scored 34 points .
Team 1 under Tony Matlessโs leadership again took the team comp with a very good 77 points .
The pins were tricky but Mark Cushion (1st captains 2 too ๐) took 2 and Mick Landamore and โRocketโ Ronnie Perfect one each.
At the 18 th Martin Devlin got the prize with 2 x drivers into the wind (not best choice of hole ๐)
Next up is Gorleston on Friday 28th April - hope to see many more of you there! ๐โณ๏ธ๐ป

As many of you know, Richard lost his brave battle against Prostrate Cancer last week. ๐ข
Richard was a big part of the Society and past captain too.
He will be sorely missed by everyone, but his memory will live on forever.

Great start to the new golfing season for our Society at Bungay last Friday. Weather was dry but a stiff breeze made scoring a challenge! Congratulations to winner Paul Secker with a solid 36 points - his low ball flight game certainly an advantage in the conditions ๐๐ป Our hosts looked after us well and a delicious breakfast was consumed before play commenced. Great day Friday for our annual Society match against Steve Flynnโs Apollo Society! 3rd year and weโre still undefeated ๐ But itโs not just about the winning - itโs also about enjoying each otherโs company,laughter,banter and some good golf at times!๐ Thanks to WVGC staff for looking after us so well! The fish & chips were delicious!๐โณ๏ธ๐ป๐๐ป
Great day hosted by Stephen Flynn and his Apollo Golf Society! Some very good golf played - especially from our very own Neil Batchelor who broke 80 for the 1st time in his golfing career!๐ A gross 74 and -1 par on the back nine! Congratulations Neil! ๐๐ป We all know youโre chuffed to bits! ๐ Our team came out on top (9-5) Return leg at Wensum Valley on Friday 23rd September. ๐ โณ๏ธ๐บ
Our recent away trip to the lovely Belton Woods! Great time had by all! Plenty of banter and laughter! Good courses and hotel. Earlier this month we held our Annual Team Event which as always was well attended by our Society members and from further afield too - The Midlands and Kent! ๐
This year the winners were Apollo - home advantage certainly helped! A big thanks as always to Chairman Richard Maxwell,Denise,Vince and many others for their hard work and support/organisation on the day and well done to all for your generosity in helping us raise over ยฃ500 for our Prostrate charity ๐๐โณ๏ธ
The Societyโs first away trip of the golfing season took place in the rolling Constable countryside at Stoke-By-Nayland. 18 of us enjoyed probably getting out of the county for the 1st time this year too! Great time had by all with plenty of banter and fun! Overall winner of the trip went to new boy Mike Riches with 2 superb rounds - scoring under his 18 handicap on both days!๐๐ป Team event went to Miltyโs Masters - very close match! Only one point in it over Captainโs Peteโ men! Next away trip is September at Skegness!! Canโt wait!!๐

First event of the new golfing 2021 season was held back in Early April at Bawburgh GC. Winner on the day was veteran society member Chris Futter with a fine 35 points after the long winter lockdown! Well done Chris!๐๐ป It was great to see a superb turnout for the event after such a difficult winter break. Plenty of smiles and laughter shared by everyone. Thanks to Brendan McCarney for all the great photo โactionโ shots and Vince Pearson for running the sweepstake charity event raising money for a great cause - Menโs Prostrate Cancer. ๐
