The Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is back, and this year is themed
Marvellous Makers. Children can sign up for the Summer
Reading Challenge at any of the branch libraries and are
challenged to read six books or meet their own personal reading
goals this summer. Children will receive awards and certificates
to mark their achievements that they can take to school in
September to impress their new teachers!
There’s a host of children’s events and activities throughout
summer that are all free, from clay workshops to poets they have something for everyone.
‘Sign Up at StoryFest’ is the Summer Reading Challenge launch event and is taking place on Saturday 13
July 2024, 11am – 3pm at Oldham Library.
Finishers are then invited to a celebration event on Saturday 7 September 2024 | 11am-3pm for a game
of crazy golf and to make their own smoothies on a bike!

STORY FEST
StoryFest is a two-day event which involves eight children’s
Authors, visiting local primary schools and Oldham Library.
Saturday 13 July 2024 | 11am-3pm - all of the amazing
authors will be gracing the main stage aka Oldham Children’s
Library to deliver lots of fun activities for children. This event
is free, no booking required – just go along and join in!
As well as Authors they’ll have lots of craft activities and will be encouraging children to sign up for this year’s
Summer Reading Challenge-themed Marvellous Makers. The first 200 sign-ups will receive a free book by
one of the authors.
