Photos from The Covered Market Oxford's post 21/05/2024

As part of Love Your Local Market we're looking into what people love about shopping with markets and market life.

Something we hear all the time is how much people value the personability and focussed skill offered by small independent local market businesses. We've over 50 of them in the Covered Market. Here's one such area where years of knowledge can save you a whole heap of stress.

Dressing for formal events such as Royal Ascot at Racecourse, Royal Regatta or a wedding for example can be a daunting prospect for even the most confident of fashionistas. It can be pricey and there's often a lot of pressure involved to really look your best.

Meet Gillian, owner of The Hat Box. After 20 years in the business, Gillian, is an absolute expert at helping you find that perfect finish to your special outfit.

We chatted with Gillian earlier this week to find out what her top tips are for selecting that perfect hat.

See link to the article in the comments below.

๐Ÿ“ฃWelcome to Part three of our "Christmas all wrapped up with the Covered Market" is out now and ....๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿฅ‚just in time too as many of you are clocking off work for the Christmas period. It's about unique ideas for spending quality festive time with your loved ones or simply taking a moment out for yourself. ๐Ÿฅฐ

The market looks exceptionally magical at this time of year and now that we are open until 11pm Thurs - Sat, we have the widest selection of things to do in the market ever!

1) The cuppa catch up - There is something really special about either calling a friend or just taking time out for yourself to catch up over a lovely cuppa. Sitting back at a coffee shop and just taking in your surroundings watching the world buzz around you without you being part of it for a change, can feel really quite therapeutic.

2) Get stuck into something - From Thursday โ€“ Saturday, the market is open until 11pm. At night, you can really see how the market sparkles. Here youโ€™ll find traders offering all kinds of events and activities from live music gigs, to tastings, to book talks, quizzes and workshops

3) Lets do Lunch - Lunch in the market has become quite the thing these days. You can dine-in at one of the many eateries or grab a takeaway and eat lunch together on our rainbow picnic benches in both the centre of the market. central areas.

A full version of this post is available in blog form on our website on the News and Events section where we highlight various traders and what they have to offer

Merry Christmas to all of you.
