Here’s a quick floor core workout..
Crunches strengthen abs, to build a stronger core you should aim to include multi directional movements, and create a mind to muscle connection to activate and relax specific muscle groups associated to the movement.
As always work within movement ranges that you can control- using both breathe work and muscle activation .
3-5 sets 10-20 reps

Movement matters
Here’s a few lower body mobility and activation exercises to add to your warm up.
As a coach I see Mobility and muscle activation neglected time and time again. You wouldn’t try to start your car in 5th gear, so why do you expect your body to do the same?!
Mobilising the joints you’re going to load is key to achieving full ranges of motion - ultimately increasing the strength and efficiency of your movement. If you’ve been struggling, pop into one of classes starting back this week!

Last week the junior athletics academy regrouped on track🙌🏿
I can’t stress how much more there is than just running! We restarted with endurance, speed and jumps trials with some massive pbs across the board 😁
But above the physical skills, self discipline, team work and positive mindset developments we practice. It has been so refreshing to watch the social developments week in, week out!
It hasn’t been an easy feat keeping grassroots sports going, but every session these guys show up with heart, ready to work
We’re back to regular Tuesday/Thursday split group training after the holidays.

Massive well done to all the juniors who have shown nothing but resilience, heart and determination! Great to see so many on weekly zoom, a big well done to all parents throughout this time, I know it’s not an easy feat to keep all focused!

Advanced Ab workout
But what are “abs”? - Your abdominal muscles are essentially just that, muscles.
As with all muscles we want to strengthen them through putting them under tension. Stronger/conditioned abs can reduce muscular imbalance and assist in developing movement performance.
Weak abs can cause poor stability, posture and compensatory stress to connecting muscles I.e lower back to work over time = back pain
EVERYONE has abs! The visibility of all muscle (muscle tone) is dependent on your body composition (fat / muscle/ water %) Before you try a million crunches and waist trainers for “instant”results, understand how your body reacts to your current nutrition/ eating habits. Alongside program reviews, can also highlight responses to your training stresses... trust the process and remember all muscle has a function!
