Today we said goodbye to one of the great characters. Tommy Pritchard, local legend and sportsman in Oxfordshire, sadly passed away recently. Pritch was not only a local at Sandys but part of the furniture. He would be at every lock in and staff event wherever we would go. His energy, humour and huge personality was infectious to all of those around him. The highest capped rugby player at Leeds University, player at Oxford Harlequins, scorer at Horspath cricket club and had just taken up scorer for the Old Cheltonians cricket club.

This picture is when he joined us in London at Imbibe, a spirits fair. He took me to the strongest whisky stalls and thought trying every single one of these was essential despite all of them setting our throats on fire! He continued to hold court throughout the night, bellowing big laughs and telling great tales!

He will be sadly missed at the bar and around the county and for now Pritch we say to you, our friend, “see you later” 🏉 🏏 🍺 🎯 🍷

This may be a very boring post but it’s very exciting for us! Our loos have had a massive transformation and are now super shiny! We’ve also just released our new cocktail menu which we’ll be telling you all about shortly

We are open this weekend! After 3 weeks of a lot of work and quite a few issues the loos have been re done. Some nice little surprises as well in the next couple weeks so as your dry Jan ends come and join us for some singing and dancing!

Whilst we take a break from the bar, here’s a reminder of Sandy’s On The Move. You can see here playing a New Year’s Eve event. We can do the full bar for you at any event, festival, wedding, corporate, birthday party and more and more. We also do piano hire for the music. Give us a shout if you want more info. 🎹

This is the last weekend we’ll be open until January 26th. We have some booking availability on Saturday so get booking and get your Sandy’s fix before we say bye for now. 🎹

🚨 Announcement! Hello all, so we’re afraid to say that we are temporarily closing for 3 and a half weeks in January. We love our bar, we love the music and the ambience, the staff and just the general fun. What we hate and what I’m sure you all hate are our Loos! They have been pretty (ahem) poor for a while. This is due to a very old building and a huge expense to fix them, however we feel the time is now right to get this sorted. This is an expensive and testing operation but we feel we can’t go on with the state they are in.

There will be a new design, some deep cleaning and new surprises in the bar when we open so get ready.

For those of you who have already booked in with us in January you will be receiving a call today. We apologise massively for this but it’s for the greater good. Please DM us with any questions you may have.

The first wine tasting at the new Oxford Wine cellar is happening on Wednesday 8th November at 7pm. What better way to start than a sherry and food tasting, and be joined by a certified sommelier to guide you through the tasting. Tickets are £20pp and can either be bought online via there website or by popping into the venue and booking a table.
